Congratulations, Dr. Madison Monahan!

We celebrate Madison Monahan, a graduate student co-advised by Jim and Professor Brandi Cossairt in Chemistry, for the successful defense of her thesis titled “Design Principles for Cadmium Chalcogenide Nanoparticle Assembly via Peptoids.” Madison and her research played a substantial role in the CSSAS program, a DOE Energy Frontier Research Center (EFRC) established in 2018. In particular, she created versatile synthetic tools for novel peptoid-quantum dot hybrid materials with programmable geometry, particle arrangement patterns, and microstructures. Madison’s research demonstrated that peptoid chemistry is a powerful tool to organize inorganic building blocks in a complex manner and paved the avenue to multi-functional hybrid nanostructures. Congratulations on her accomplishment and impressive Ph.D. presentation!
