Jay Dua and Xinqi Li Receive CEI Graduate Fellowship

Congratulations to Jay Dua and Xinqi Li, graduate students in the De Yoreo Group, for receiving the CEI Graduate Fellowship from the Clean Energy Institute at the University of Washington!

The CEI Graduate Fellowship Program funds exceptional researchers studying energy across various fields at the University of Washington to apply their talents to clean energy research projects. Under the support of this program, Jay will develop protocols for creating self-assembled monolayers of aliphatic thiols on ion-exchanged muscovite mica and analyze their efficacy in anchoring protein-based biosensors and biomimetic nucleating agents. Xinqi will focus on using nanofiber membranes for Zn recycling and ZnO nanoparticle synthesis, which will employ the knowledge learned from the current AFM study of the de novo-designed Zn-binding protein/inorganic interface.
