Jordann Krouse (2025)

Co-President

Jordann (she/her) is beyond excited to serve as one of the Co-Presidents for ELS this year. Originally born in Chicago, IL, she has moved around the US and is excited to finally be in the PNW. Jordann is interested in water law and hopes to be a water lawyer someday. Outside of law school she loves hiking, snowboarding, and playing any intramural sport available.

Greg Papp (2025)

Co-President

Greg is a 2L and an ELS Co-President. He was a US Navy helicopter pilot for 10 years before earning a Masters degree from UW’s School of Marine and Environmental Affairs. At UW Law, Greg is interested in environmental justice and is pursuing a career focusing on the human dimensions of environmental issues. During his 1L summer, Greg was an intern at the Washington State Office of the Attorney General in the Environmental Protection Division. Out of class, Greg loves baseball (go O’s!) and birdwatching.

Lauren Young (2025)

Pro Bono Director

Lauren is one of the Pro Bono Directors. With the other Director, she plans, coordinates, and oversees the Environmental Law Society’s pro bono projects. Lauren is from Connecticut and attended school at Penn State University where she received a B.S. in Environmental Economics and Policy. She spent her 1L summer at the Washington Attorney General’s Office in the Complex Litigation Division and is a Fall extern for the US Department of Agriculture Office of General Council. She is working towards a career in environmental litigation for either the federal government or nonprofits.

Skylar Fisher (2025)

Pro Bono Director

Skylar is excited to be one of the Pro Bono Directors this year! Skylar is a 2L from North Carolina/Michigan, interested in environmental justice and water law. She is a delightful addition to any dinner party and you should feel free to gab with her about anything including public interest law or the best dive bars in Seattle.

Julia de la Fuente (2025)

Diversity Chair

Julia (she/her) is excited to be serving as diversity chair this year. She is from Encinitas, California, and is interested in all things public interest law. Outside of school, Julia is usually out hiking and trying to find the best margarita in Seattle (price to potency ratio). Do not hesitate to reach out and ask her anything about law school!

Mike is incredibly excited to be serving as the Communications Chair this year. Originally from New Jersey, he is passionate about wildlife conservation and intellectual property protection. When Mike’s not hitting the books, you can catch him rooting for the Knicks, getting outside for a hike, or watching Survivor.

Karina Paup Byrnes (2025)

Treasurer and Social Chair

Karina attributes her interest in environmental law to growing up on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. She is specifically passionate about urban land use and planning, as well as community environmental stewardship. After her 1L year, she worked as a student attorney with both UW Law’s Race & Justice Clinic, and the Regulatory Environmental Law & Policy Clinic. This upcoming summer, Karina will be a summer associate at Rocke Law Group.

Zach Schaefer (2025) 

2L Representative

Zach is a 2L interested in environmental law & policy. Prior to law school Zach worked in finance for about 5 years in Chicago, and spent this past summer working for the environmental nonprofit, Our Children’s Trust. In his free time Zach enjoys exploring the mountains, hanging out near the water, and checking out live music. Zach is happy to discuss his experience working for a nonprofit, law as a second career, all the great hikes around Seattle, or anything else related to environmental law and the great outdoors.

Christina Day (2025) 

2L Representative

Christina is a 2L interested in practicing environmental law. She currently works part-time at the WA Attorney General’s Office (Environmental Protection Division) and was previously a summer law clerk at the Seattle City Attorney’s Office (Land Use Section). Prior to law school, she worked for five years at a firm in San Francisco. Christina has a B.S. in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Molecular and Cellular Biology and minored in Environmental Policy and Planning. She loves connecting over anything related to skiing/snowboarding or cats or The Good Place/Harry Potter, but is always happy to chat about anything!

Sarah Zephier (2025) 

2L Representative

Prior to law school, Sarah worked for the National Park Service at three different parks. No matter the park, she centered her work around equal access to national parks because of factors that limit visitation, like economic, racial, and physical ability. Last summer, she was a Tribal & Environmental Extern for Heart of America-Northwest.

Lauren Block (2026) 

1L Representative

Lauren received her BA in Political Science and Environmental Ethics & Policy from the University of Portland in 2023. She is passionate about the intersection between law, climate science, and international relations, and has previously worked at the U.S. Department of the Interior in the Office of International Affairs.

Yoshiko Lynch (2026) 

1L Representative

Yoshiko is a 1L at UW who hopes to pursue a career in either tribal law, environmental law, or criminal justice. Prior to attending law school, she majored in environmental studies at Carleton College, where she developed a passion for environmental justice. After undergrad, she spent some time working as a high school writing tutor in Boston and as kids rock climbing instructor in Seattle. Outside of school and work, she enjoys climbing, running, and reading memoirs about strange people.

Jamison Koeman (2026) 

1L Representative

Jamison is a 1L at the University of Washington School of Law and is a 1L Representative for the Environmental Law Society. He is interested in Environmental, Land Use, and Housing Law. Before law school, he completed a Master’s of Public Health, managed a housing and public health research lab at the University of Michigan, and worked in landlord-tenant law as a legal assistant at the United Community Housing Coalition in Detroit, Michigan. In his free time, Jamison enjoys trail running, skiing, and cooking.

Kate Lowry (2026)

1L Representative

Kate is an avid gardener and lover of nature and recently took her homesteading tendencies even further by starting her own backyard flock of chickens. She had a previous career in legal at Amazon in the Alexa and Echo Devices division but decided to finally pursue law school so she can more actively advocate for, and participate in, environmental law and policy efforts aimed at sustainability and remediation. She is excited to be a member of the Environmental Law Society Board as a 1L representative and hopes to help drive new volunteer and pro bono projects.
