Yang Liu joined Tureček group since winter quarter of 2015. Her PhD study involved in two major topics of research: (1) Development of multiplex tandem mass spectrometry assay for newborn screening (NBS) of lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs); (2) Development of mass spectrometry techniques in combination with computational modeling to elucidate the conformational structure of physiologically active molecules (noncovalent complexes and unusual radical species) in the gas phase. During her PhD study she also took a side track of data science (DIRECT program sponsored by Clean Energy Institute) with focus on machine learning on chemical patterns.
