About IHSA

We compete through an organization called the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA). IHSA established in 1967 by Robert Cacchione and offers a unique showing experience to college equestrians. Our team competes with several surrounding public and private universities in the PNW in both the English and Western disciplines. IHSA is unique because the rider is assigned a new horse at every show to ride and they are unable to interact with them until they are in the show ring.

Why show IHSA?

  • Improves confidence as a rider!
  • Ride a variety of different horses!
  • Improves horsemanship and problem-solving skills!
  • Challenging and fun!
  • Meet fellow equestrians from all over!

UW IHSA Showing Options:

  • English
    • Hunt Seat Equitation
    • Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences
  • Western
    • Western Seat Equitation (with patterns)
    • Reining

Who is eligible to show with the UW Team?

In order to be a part of our show team you must be a full-time student at the University of Washington Seattle Campus. As of now our region does not offer any alumni classes, so only undergraduate students are able to show with us, but graduate members are still more than welcome to join our team!
