Young mothers participating in the first part of the study will be interviewed by a member of our study team. Interviews will take about an hour and can be conducted in-person or over the phone. Participants will be asked about their experience during pregnancy and in the postpartum period, along with questions about their support systems and social media preferences. These interviews will help us adapt the Mothers and Babies program to fit the population we are serving and decide on the best method to digitally implement the program.
Health care workers participating in the first part of the study will also be interviewed by a member of our study team. Interviews will take about an hour and can be conducted in-person or over the phone. Participants will be asked about their experiences working with pregnant adolescents, what they feel are the biggest challenges for pregnant adolescents, how best to support pregnant adolescents, and their impressions of the program design. These interviews will also help us adapt the MB program.
Pregnant adolescents participating in the pilot will join a group of 5 to 7 other pregnant adolescents and partake in the mobile implementation of the Mothers and Babies program. Participants will receive program content on their mobile phones and engage in group discussions over the course of 3-months. Participants will be interviewed upon completion of the intervention period.
All participants, both in the interviews and the pilot, will receive a financial reimbursement for their involvement in the study.
