Mentor Network

Hi! You’ve found the Chemistry Mentor Network page.

The goal of this program is to help incoming chemistry grad students with questions about starting grad school (research, classes, moving to Seattle, work/life balance etc.), as well as help them integrate into the department when they arrive. If you’re an incoming student with questions about life as a UW chemistry grad student, or if you’re a current grad student interested in sharing your expertise, this mentor network is right for you! Participation in this informal, student-led network is not only voluntary but entirely customizable. We partner all interested first-year grad students with a more senior graduate student based on their specific needs. To extend beyond traditional mentoring roles, we plan events for all the participating mentees and mentors, so we can all share in each other’s expertise and learning.

To learn more about the expectations and to sign up, please follow the links for mentors or mentees. We pair mentors and mentees on a rolling basis, based on survey responses!
