Overview
The University of Washington has a rich history of rigorous, strategic, and multidisciplinary research. UW has many department- and school-specific research labs, as well as many multidisciplinary centers and institutes. As a graduate student, finding labs and centers focused on your area of interest can lead to an increased understanding of the field, and opportunities for attending conferences or events, and even working with the lab. Take the time to explore these opportunities, and find a lab or center that interests you!
Activity: Find a UW Research Center or Institute
- Visit the Research Centers and Institutes Page
- Use the Research Centers Search Tool to explore based on key words and the college/school it is associated with
- Narrow your list to a few centers to explore further. Dive into questions such as:
- What is their mission statement? How does this fit into your own research interests?
- What services do they provide for students?
- Who are the professors and researches associated with this center/lab?
- Decide if/how you would like to get involved. Make a plan to attend an event, send an email, or sign up for their mailing list.
