Congratulations to the University of Washington Tacoma Analytics Innovations Club!  They were selected as a winner of the INFORMS 2021 Student Chapter Annual Award as an honorable mention chapter. This is the second INFORMS Award the club has received in the last 3 years recognizing the club’s achievements in communications, special events & initiatives, community service, and operations.

The University of Washington Tacoma Analytics Innovations Club (AI Club) is led by the Milgard Center for Business Analytics (CBA) and is the University of Washington Tacoma’s student chapter of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). The club encourages interest in the field of Analytics Innovation (e.g. Data Analytics, Digital Innovation, Operations Research, Management Sciences, Decision Sciences, Data Sciences, Design Sciences, Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, Prescriptive & Cognitive Analytics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence). The AI Club gives students the opportunity to volunteer for an applied analytics project and help organizations address their problems by providing data-driven insights.

The AI Club had another terrific year volunteering on several pro bono analytics projects in our community. Currently, the club is helping IBM to test and create a use case study for the AIF360 toolkit to address bias & fairness in datasets. In this age, where data is everything, we often come across many instances where the data is biased. With this project, AI Club & Milgard School of Business help graduates to gain the potential to accelerate change in building social equity and unbiased society through data science.” said the president of 2021-22 AI Club Teja Alluru who is studying in the Master of Science in Business Analytics program in UW Tacoma.
