Two teams of UW Tacoma Milgard School of Business MS Business Analytics (MSBA) students pitched their innovations from UW Tacoma to mentors at CoMotion in UW Seattle for feedback on Monday February 10th.
These MSBA student teams were awarded the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps (I-Corps) grants to accelerate projects that are ready to move toward commercialization. CoMotion (the innovation hub of UW located on the Seattle campus) secured the NSF grant and they issue approximately 30 awards per year.
As grantees, these MSBA student teams were awarded $2500 each to interview potential customers. In addition, they benefit from interacting with accomplished entrepreneurs who volunteer their time to help the grantees refine their innovation.
Team One consists of Miles Klingenberg, Zhijun Ma, Chris Dinsmore, Drew Gordon and Jegan Selvaraj and their innovation is Rising Tide Consultants. Their product is designed to help human services focused non-profit organizations track, measure and communicate the impact of their work.
Team Two consists of Tyler Ray, Hahn Diep, Jashan Singh and Brian Tran and their innovation is Teach Me That. Their product is like an AirBnB for skill-sharing that connects teachers and learners together.
Congratulations to our MSBA students for earning these awards and thank you to CoMotion for their investment into our student team innovations.
