UW Medicine Primary Care Teaching Programs

UW Medicine Primary Care is proud to provide learning opportunities for students with interest in a variety of roles in the healthcare field.  In addition to the residency programs co-located with UW Medicine Primary Care Clinics, we provide learning opportunities for students from many settings:

  • Medical Assistant Externs through agreements with local schools
  • Students from the UW School of Medicine, MEDEX , UW School of Nursing, UW School of Social Work, and UW School of Public Health
  • ARNP, DNP and PA students through agreements with multiple schools
  • High school graduates and undergraduate students seeking shadowing/observer opportunities
  • (working to add opportunities for school-aged students)

At the forefront of this work, our Primary Care team is building a more equitable ecosystem for students interested in a career in medicine. Our goal is to facilitate learning opportunities for all students by reducing barriers and creating the type of connections with healthcare professionals that have been historically out of reach for some.
