TDOR – LGBTQ+ Policy and Legislation Post November 2023
This month honors Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) and communities will
host vigils meant to carve out spaces for grieving, healing, and support throughout the nation.
Historically, the use of violence and countless instances of indignity experienced by members of
our LGBTQ+ community have been prompted by local, state and federal policies with the
objective to relegate us to the margins of society. Marginalization implemented through policy
may be informed by prejudice and discrimination like homophobia, racism, and transphobia.
Through sheer will and political advocacy, the LGBTQ+ community has leveraged relationships
and resources to mobilize political efforts that secured essential protections for our LGBTQ+
community. This policy series will work to equip our LGBTQ+ community with an informed lens
to view emerging policy, assess the impact of such policies on our lives, and to provide
supportive information to promote advocacy, self-determination, and the liberation of our
community.
