Training and Technical Assistance
Our comprehensive training takes an intersectional, anti-violence approach to create positive and lasting change. By collaboratively reimagining possibilities for your department, unit, or school, we aim to help you create a more inclusive and supportive educational environment. We offer a variety of training modules, many of which have been successfully implemented across numerous departments at the UW.
LGBTQ+ Policy and Legislation
Policy and legislation impact all aspects of life. At the Q center, we teach about what policy is, how it works, and how it impacts LGBTQ+ people. The goal of this blog series is to educate LGBTQ+ people and allies on current policy issues.
Sexplanations Workshop
Sexplanations is designed to deepen students’ understanding of sex, sexuality, and sexual health! This program includes weekly sexual wellness Instagram stories and monthly workshops. Through Sexplanations, you can expand your understanding of sexual wellbeing, deepen your knowledge about your wants and needs, and build skills to help you express those wants and needs while attuning to the wants and needs of others. Our goal is for you to gain new information, skills, and habits that will support safer, healthier experiences with sex and relationships!
CHID Focus Group
Comparative History of Ideas (CHID) Focus Groups are 2-credit, C/NC classes. Focus groups use a framework of peer learning within a facilitated, discussion-based classroom. Students with common interests can create a space to discuss topics not covered elsewhere within UW. The Q Center generally offers a CHID Focus Group every Winter and Spring quarter centered on queerness. Previous courses include Queer Heritage: Past and Present, Exploring Representations of Sexuality and Gender in media, and Queering Cinema.
