About the Researchers
Principal Investigator: Dr. Suzanne J. Wood
Dr. Wood is an Assistant Professor in the Health Services Department at the University of Washington. Her primary research interests relate to strategic management of healthcare organizations – particularly in the areas of national health system capacity building, organizational alignment with strategy and the implementation of initiatives, performance improvement, and leader/manager development. Dr. Wood has 27 years experience holding various healthcare executive roles as an active duty and reserve officer in the U.S. Navy.
Co-Investigator: Dr. Paul Fishman
Dr. Fishman is a Professor in the UW Department of Health Services, economist, and researcher with more that 30 years experience in designing and conducting analysis of health cost and utilization.
Co-Investigator: Debra Revere
Debra is a UW Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Services and a Research Scientist focused on understanding the information and communication needs of public health.
Project Manager: Elin Teutsch
Elin is a Research Project Manager in the UW Department of Health Services. She received her Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and has worked in skilled nursing, outpatient, and community settings. Her research interests include veteran health, disability rights, and universal design.

Dr. Helfrich is a Research Associate Professor in UW Department of Health Services and a Research Investigator at Veterans Administration Puget Sound Health Care System.
Research Assistant: Ronald Buie (Oct 2019-Jun 2021)
Ronald has his Master’s in Biomedical and Health Informatics and is currently pursuing his PhD and Master’s of Public Health. His research focuses on quality of care and decision making by patients, providers, and administrators. His professional background includes clinical acupuncture and public health program evaluation.
Research Assistant: Cassidy Farrow (Oct 2019-Feb 2021)
Cassidy is receiving her Masters of Public Health from UW. She has various qualitative research experience from working on research projects concerning vulnerable populations and examining health policy.
Research Assistant: Ashley Taylor (Feb-Jun 2021)
Ashley is a student and veteran receiving her Masters of Health Administration from the UW. Prior to living in Washington, she served as a linguist in the US Navy. She has a Bachelor of Fine Art with a concentration in graphic design from the University of Memphis and has a clinical background as a certified nursing assistant.
Research Intern: Brianna Sapp (Jun-Aug 2020)
Brianna is a student at The University of Missouri majoring in Health Sciences with an emphasis on Health Leadership and Policy.
