Announcing Opening for Speech Pathology Graduate Intern

           The Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is currently seeking candidates for a Graduate Intern position. The masters-level internship is a 350-hour rotation that includes a stipend of $4511.00. Health insurance is not available for stipend students. The clinical rotation may begin Fall 2017 or Spring 2018.

Located in Long Beach, California, the medical center provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and extended care programs. The Tibor Rubin VA is a 237 bed facility providing primary, secondary, and tertiary health care in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, and rehabilitation medicine. It supports a 99 bed Community Living Center and an 85 bed Spinal Cord Injury Center. In addition, the Tibor Rubin VA is a Level III Polytrauma Center.

The intern can expect to gain experience in evaluation and therapeutic intervention of adults with swallowing, speech, language, cognitive, and voice disorders. Interns will also receive training and experience in the following: fluoroscopic and endoscopic swallowing evaluations, augmentative communication, laryngeal stroboscopy, and post-laryngectomy voice restoration. Patients are seen along the continuum of care from intensive care, acute rehabilitation, outpatient care, and long-term care.
