We are pleased to announce that we have received 1 stipend for a Clinical Fellowship in Speech Pathology and 1 stipend for 350-hour Masters level student for the coming year.

 

Augusta, Georgia is home of the Master’s Tournament and offers a variety of activities for the outdoor enthusiast.  Augusta is home to a large medical community and the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center (CNVAMC) is one of six medical centers within the area.  The CNVAMC is a two division medical center and has been designated as a Level II Polytrauma site.  CNVAMC has CARF accredited programs for inpatient rehabilitation in Spinal Cord Injury, Medical Rehabilitation, and Blind Rehabilitation.

 

Clinical fellows (CFs) are encouraged to be active participants in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams in patient care.  CFs evaluate and treat cognitive communication impairments, motor speech disorders, voice disorders, aphasia, and swallowing disorders related to a variety of diagnoses, including stroke, spinal cord injury, head and neck cancer, TBI, etc.  CFs receive training in instrumental assessment and treatment, including modified barium swallow studies, FEES, and stroboscopy.  CFs will gain experience by working in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient clinics, and community living centers.

 

CFs with a strong medical speech pathology background, strong academic background, and the desire to grow professionally in a diverse learning environment are encouraged to apply.

 

The Clinical Fellowship stipend is for 1 year and pays approximately

$38,879.00 plus benefits. Health insurance is also available and costs vary depending upon coverage.

–    The Clinical Fellowship may begin as early as May 1, 2017.

–    CF positions are for one year

–    CF positions are temporary appointments

–    Only US citizens are eligible to apply

The Masters level stipend is $4,039.00 for a 350-hour traineeship and is paid hourly. The 350-hour clinical rotations may begin in Summer 2018.

 

We currently have 3 full-time Speech Pathologists and one part-time Speech Pathologist at our 2-division Medical Center. Some examples of opportunities for experience include:  MBSS, FEES, stroboscopy, trach/vent, laryngectomy rehabilitation/TEP, TBI, CVA/aphasia, swallow therapy, AAC and voice therapy.  Our team covers inpatient, outpatients, and residents in our Community Living Centers.
