Tenure Track Faculty/Program Director in Communication Disorders – Geneva College, Pennsylvania

The position of Assistant Professor/Program Director in Communication Sciences and Disorders is a tenure-track faculty position. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. POSITION SUMMARY

This position is for a teaching faculty member and program director for our B.A. in Communication Disorders (CDS). This position involves teaching 9 credits per semester, coordinating the off-campus clinical experience, and guiding curricular decisions for the academic program. Desired areas of expertise include diagnostic and treatment procedures, evidence based practice, and clinical supervision.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; candidates with expertise in pediatrics are preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1.  Teach 9 credits (3 classes) per semester. Course load determined by the appointee’s area of expertise
  2. Coordinating the off-campus clinical experience for seniors in the major:
    1. Contacting area speech-language pathologists to secure placements for seniors
    2. Handling official paperwork (contracts, lists of responsibilities) for cooperating clinicians, students, and campus supervisors
    3. Planning the content of the senior seminar which meets weekly
    4. Supervising students in the clinical practicum experience (shared with other faculty)

3. Regular audit of curriculum in the CDS program

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Earned doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders. ABD considered.
  2. Clinical experience in Speech-Language Pathology; school-based experience preferred.
  3. Earned Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
  4. College teaching experience.
  5. Clinical supervision experience is highly desired.
  6. Eligibility for Pennsylvania licensure.

The Communication Disorders faculty member must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical church. Preference will be given to candidates who support and have an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. The individual must understand and support the College’s “Foundational Concepts of Christian Education” by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
