Caregiving for Man with Brain Tumor – if interested, please email Kara Sheridan, MS, CCC-SLP at ksherida@uw.edu
50-yr old male undergoing treatment for brain tumor. He is a physician. He needs help for 2-3 hours a day (preferably in the a.m.) to get his routine going and follow through with his planner. Impairments are pretty significant in memory. If there was a grad student interested in providing “care giving” they would be able to also come and observe therapy to carryover strategies in the home. The family would prefer to hire a grad student (like a nanny or babysitter) that has knowledge of cognitive impairments vs a hired caregiver that likely has no knowledge of cognitive impairments and integrating compensatory strategies in the home.
