12-Month Academic Dept Head, Dept. of Communication Disorders (New Mexico State University)

The Department of Communication Disorders invites applications for the position of Academic Department Head.  The Department consists of 10 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate and graduate instruction for approximately 183 undergraduates and 36 graduate students. NMSU is a EEO/AA employer and is located in sunny Las Cruces, NM.

Required Qualifications:

  • Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. or ED. in Speech-Language Pathology or in a closely related field (must possesses a Masters degree and CCC-SLP if doctorate is in a related field)
  • Meet qualifications for appointment as a tenured full professor in the department (rank of associate professor with a minimum of three years at that rank will be considered)
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Have a record of excellence in teaching
  • Possess evidence of relevant administrative experience and managerial skills
  • Have evidence of ability to foster a collegial working atmosphere; and evidence of service to the institution.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
  • Eligibility for New Mexico SLP Licensure
  • Success in scholarship
  • Experience with funded research
  • Experience developing community outreach, alumni, and public relations

Salary: Commensurate with experience and training.
