The Department of Communication Disorders invites applications for the position of Academic Department Head. The Department consists of 10 full-time faculty members and offers undergraduate and graduate instruction for approximately 183 undergraduates and 36 graduate students. NMSU is a EEO/AA employer and is located in sunny Las Cruces, NM.
Required Qualifications:
- Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. or ED. in Speech-Language Pathology or in a closely related field (must possesses a Masters degree and CCC-SLP if doctorate is in a related field)
- Meet qualifications for appointment as a tenured full professor in the department (rank of associate professor with a minimum of three years at that rank will be considered)
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills
- Have a record of excellence in teaching
- Possess evidence of relevant administrative experience and managerial skills
- Have evidence of ability to foster a collegial working atmosphere; and evidence of service to the institution.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.
- Eligibility for New Mexico SLP Licensure
- Success in scholarship
- Experience with funded research
- Experience developing community outreach, alumni, and public relations
Salary: Commensurate with experience and training.
