POSITION: Full Professor with tenure and Department Chair of Speech-Language Pathology

EFFECTIVE DATE: On or after April 1, 2019

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related discipline from an accredited program;
  • Hold the certificate of clinical competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA);
  • Licensed as a speech-language pathologist in California or eligible for licensure in California, which must be obtained within the first year of employment;
  • Demonstrated excellence as a department chair or relevant administrative experience in working effectively with faculty, scheduling, and budgeting;
  • Demonstrated excellence in collegiate teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level;
  • Research and publication record commensurate with the rank of full professor;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population.

  • Successful grant writing
  • Experience with hybrid and online instructional settings
  • Experience mentoring faculty
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, leadership, and faculty governance
  • Evidence of a record of collaboration
  • Experience in clinical supervision at the graduate level

DUTIES: Chair of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology serves on a 12- month assignment with duties including, but not limited to:

  • Recruitment of faculty;
  • Faculty and staff supervision including performance evaluation;
  • Faculty and student mentoring;
  • Promote scholarly and creative research, teaching excellence, and campus and professional service;
  • Provide leadership and advocacy for the Department’s educational and research mission;
  • Develop curriculum including, implementation and evaluation;
  • Course scheduling;
  • Serve as a resource/budget manager for the department;
  • Serve as the Program Director, with administrative oversight of the Department’s national accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
  • Initiate grant writing and development projects that promote the Department’s mission and vision;
  • Participate and develop community relations including local agencies appropriate to the department discipline;
  • Promote the undergraduate and graduate programs;
  • Normally teach 6 units (2 courses) per semester of undergraduate and/or graduate and/or clinic courses in his/her area of expertise and experience.
  • Supervise graduate students in clinical practice and directed research

  • A Student Success Statement about your teaching or other experiences, successes, and challenges in working with a diverse student population (approximately one page, single-spaced)
  • Letter of application addressing the minimum and desired/preferred qualifications
  • CV (including current e-mail address)
  • Three current letters of recommendation
  • Copy of transcript from institution awarding highest degree
  • Finalists will also be required to submit a signed SC-1 form, official transcript, and examples of scholarly work in the form of portfolio materials.
  • Copy of the Certificate at Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology from the ASHA
  • Copy of license as a speech-language pathologist in California or evidence of eligibility for licensure in California within the first year of employment
