ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
DIVISION OF COMMUNICATION SCIENCES AND DISORDERS
SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

The Department of Human Performance, Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track (12-month) Assistant Professor to contribute to a well-established program with a tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of WVU and the programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders housed within the School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality teaching, coordinate the clinical training of graduate students in audiology and speech-language pathology, and oversee clinical placements of students on and off campus. Primary responsibilities will be to coordinate the clinical training experiences of professional graduate students, including participation in interprofessional education and practice. This faculty member will coordinate and align the evaluation of supervision activities on and off campus while developing and overseeing opportunities for continuing education of clinical supervisors and academic instructors of clinical courses. This faculty member will have expertise in the scholarship of teaching and learning for the field of communication sciences and disorders so as to develop and establish a professional development program for on- and off-campus clinical supervisors. The faculty member will contribute to a department culture of collegiality, collaboration, and trust, will promote and demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness, and will seek to promote partnerships within the university, community, and state. Active engagement in division, department, university, and professional service activities is also expected.

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

Clinical SLP or AuD degree, preference for candidates with graduate education specific to the scholarship of teaching and learning and/or clinical education or professional experience within these areas
Eligible for a West Virginia Audiology or Speech-Language Pathology license
Supervisory experience and potential for publications related to the scholarship of teaching and learning in clinical training
Maintain a clinical practice

AUDIOLOGY ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The Department of Human Performance, Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders at West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking a full-time, tenure track (12-month) Assistant Professor of Audiology to contribute to a well-established program with a tradition of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service at the Assistant Professor rank. The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of WVU and the program in Communication Sciences and Disorders housed within the School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality teaching, establish a funded research program, direct student research and participate in clinical practice. Specifically, the successful candidate will participate in area(s) of scholarship appropriate to areas of expertise leading to peer-reviewed publications and external funding. In addition, the faculty member will provide instruction to students at the undergraduate and graduate level. Individuals with expertise in cochlear implants, pediatric (re)habilitation, adult audiologic (re)habilitation, and vestibular assessment and intervention, but expertise in all aspects of the field of Audiology will be considered. The successful candidate will also participate in dissemination of research findings in various formats including regional, national, and international conference podiums and posters, and peer-reviewed journals; contribute to a department culture of collegiality, collaboration, and trust; will promote and demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness, and will seek to promote partnerships within the department, community, and other related programs. Active engagement in departmental, university, and professional service activities is also expected.

PhD, or EdD required completion by August 1, 2021
West Virginia Audiology license or eligible for a West Virginia Audiology license
Record of publications or potential to obtain a record of scholarly work

The successful candidate will contribute to the mission of WVU and the program in Communication Sciences and Disorders housed within the School of Medicine.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality teaching and direct a research program, mentor student research, and participate in clinical practice. Individuals with expertise in speech sound disorders, acquired language disorders, dysphagia, and/or augmentative and alternative communication are encouraged to apply but all applications will be reviewed. Specifically, the successful candidate will participate in scholarship appropriate to areas of expertise leading to peer-reviewed publications and external funding. In addition, the faculty member will provide instruction to students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
