Position Description:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 12-month full-time clinical faculty position at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor to begin in June 2023. Appropriate candidates are those with clinical expertise in the area of adult acquired neurogenic communication disorders, as well as an interest in program development and a strong record of professional productivity. The Wendell Johnson Speech & Hearing Clinic is a thriving clinic within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The clinic maintains active collaborations with the Veterans Administration Hospital and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Departments of Otolaryngology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery.
Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include clinical teaching of graduate students in clinical practice, program development, participation in service and professional development activities, and knowledge dissemination in areas of expertise. Other responsibilities may include classroom teaching, and scholarship within areas of expertise.
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of clinical experience
- Specific clinical expertise using evidence-based practice in the area of neurogenic communication disorders (e.g. aphasia, TBI, dementia, motor speech disorders)
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment
- Desirable Qualifications –
- Experience with clinical instruction and/or supervision
- Experience with the development and implementation of clinical programming
- Experience with administration and leadership (e.g. involvement in professional organizations)
Certifications:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
- Eligible for licensure in Iowa as a Speech-Language Pathologist
