Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas has a full-time summer internship spot available for one of our students!
This would be a position that is primarily adult but with some pediatric as well. Here are the details:
The adult caseload would involve acute care evaluations and treatment for swallowing, speech/language, communication, and cognition (medical, trauma, neuro, cardiac, oncology, and burn). We regularly do inpatient and outpatient MBSS (all ages, infant to geriatric) and a lot of inpatient FEES (a few pediatric, mostly adults). On the pediatric side, we see an occasional infant with cleft lip/palate in the NICU. O.T. sees all other children for feeding < 6 months of age. We see children 6 months and up for speech/language, cognition, and swallowing. Two of our therapists regularly attend cleft team where they see outpatients with cleft lip/palate. There are also a few outpatient children seen for speech/language, which are seen primarily by a part-time pediatric therapist.’
Please let me know ASAP if you are interested!
Thank you,
Kelsey
