DECEMBER DEADLINES

  1. American Association of University Women (AAUW) Career Development Grant
  • DUE:  December 15, 2017 (next Friday)
  • Summary:  Provides $2000 – $12,000 in funding to women who hold a bachelor’s degree and are preparing to advance or change careers or reenter the workforce. Primary consideration is given to women of color and women pursuing their first advanced degree or credentials in nontraditional fields.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents whose last degree was received before June 30, 2013. Funds are available for tuition, fees, books, supplies, local transportation, and dependent care.

  1. Medical Scrubs Collection Scholarship
  • DUE:  December 15, 2017 (next Friday)
  • Summary:  Medical Scrubs Collection (MSC) provides a $1000 scholarship to students studying in any health or medical-related field.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be enrolled in a medically related program such as therapy, nursing, medicine, laboratory science, dentistry, etc.
  • Application:  Essay “What Inspired You to Pursue A Career in Helping Others?”

 

JANUARY DEADLINES

  1. UW Retirement Association (UWRA) Scholarship on Aging
  • DUE:  January 19, 2018 at 5:00 pm PDT
  • Summary:  Four, $4000 scholarships will be awarded to students with an academic or career emphasis on aging. Evaluation factors include demonstrated experience/commitment to paid or volunteer work benefitting older adults, academic performance, communication skills and financial need (as determined by FAFSA).
  • Eligibility:  Undergraduate and graduate students at all three UW campuses, including international and HB 1079 students, are eligible to apply.
  1. Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fellowships
  • DUE:  January 2, 2018 at noon PDT
  • Summary:   $18,000 stipend plus tuition. An annual award that may be renewed for a total of three years.
  • Eligibility:  U.S. citizen, doctoral student with an outstanding undergrad record, financial need (FAFSA filed), conducting research in the U.S. in a field of study in the humanities, social sciences, or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture, or other formal professional training).
  • Special notes:  The selection committee has a strong prefence for supporting research vs. practice doctorate endeavours.
  1. Bonderman Travel Fellowship

FEBRUARY DEADLINES

  1. UW Retirement Association (UWRA) Graduate Fellowship In Aging
  • DUE:  February 1, 2018 at noon PDT
  • Summary:  This is a one-quarter fellowship that supports graduate students of outstanding academic merit who have a demonstrated academic and personal interest in aging-related issues or concerns. The fellowship will provide a monthly stipend, GAIP health insurance, and a waiver of state tuition for up to 18 credits (excluding U-PASS and international student fee) in the quarter when the student takes the fellowship. The choice of the quarter will be left to the discretion of the graduate student in consultation with his or her department.
  • Eligibility:  Eligible students must bematriculated in a UW graduate degree tuition program (fee-based programs are not eligible) and not in their last year of study. The recipient of the award must also be enrolled in full-time credits (at least 10) during the fellowship quarter.
  1. CAPCSD Frances Laven Scholarship
  • DUE:  January 5, 2018 by midnight EDT (9:00 pm PDT).
  • Summary:  $5,000
  • Eligibility:  Master’s or Doctoral student at a CAPCSD institution (which we are) demonstrating exemplary service. Examples of service may include (but are not limited to) community service, service to the department or university, or service to the greater discipline.
  • Special note:  The Department may only nominate one student across the MS and AuD programs for this award. If you are interested, please submit the following information electronically to Julie Leonardo no later than Friday December 29, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.  The department will then select one invidual to put forward for the nomination.
  • 1) your resume
  • 2) one page essay (instruction are on the application)
  • 3) the name of one faculty mentor who would be able to write a letter to CAPCSD on your behalf, if you are selected.
  1. CAPCSD PhD Scholarship Application 
  • DUE:  February 2, 2018 at 11:59 EDT (8:59 PDT)
  • Summary:  $20,000
  • Eligibility:  Doctoral student who has advanced to candidacy (Ph.C.) at a CAPCSD institution (which we are).
  • Special note: The Department may only nominate one PhD student for this award. If you are interested, please submit the following information electronically to Julie Leonardo no later than Friday, January 12, 2018 at 5:00 p.m.  The department will then select one invidual to put forward for the nomination.
    • Completed cover letter with brief introduction of the research project and stated commitment to an academic position upon completion of Ph.D. program. The cover letter should also include reference to current Ph.D. funding and how a CAPCSD Scholarship would facilitate completion of dissertation research (two pages, doublespaced, 12-point font).
      2) Completed summary of dissertation research (1,000 word limit; ~3 double-spaced pages; 12-point font).

  1. National Association of Junior Auxiliaries (NAJA) Scholarship
  • DUE: February 1, 2018
  • Summary:  The NAJA Graduate Scholarship Program has awarded more than 542 scholarships totaling $1,268,504.00 for graduate study in fields which address the special needs of children and youth
  • Eligibility: Must be working or planning to work directly with children, pursuing graduate level study in a field that addresses the special needs of children, U.S. citizen, permanent resident of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri or Tennessee
