Pediatric SLP- Hope RISING Clinic for Prenatal Substance Exposure (Bothwell, WA)

Join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing evaluation and evidence-based therapeutic support for children birth through 12 years with prenatal substance exposure and their families. Our model is the first of its kind in the nation and developed in consultation with the University of Washington’s FASD clinic; be a part of cutting-edge service delivery! Office location: Bothell, Washington (Canyon Park area; approx. 20 miles NE of Seattle)

Start date: January 2019 (hiring now!)

Hours: Flexible full-time schedule; Some evenings and Saturdays may be available.

Chief responsibilities:

  • Assessing and evaluating (with multidisciplinary team) each child’s performance in all areas of development, including social-emotional and behavioral.
  • Participating in the development of individualized goals for child and family.
  • Providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and families.
  • Participating in speech-language assessment component of monthly FASD assessment and diagnostic clinic.
  • Providing coaching and consultation for staff, parents and care providers.
  • Attending or conducting conferences/consultations with caregivers, as needed.
  • Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team including caregivers and professional staff.
  • Serving as a liaison with the medical and educational community on behalf of children and their parents.
  • Demonstrating a caring, nonjudgmental, equity-minded approach to working with every family.
  • Attending scheduled clinical and staff meetings and be an active participant in staff related activities.
  • Preparing written reports and chart notes as required by Wonderland.
  • Providing in-service trainings of staff and volunteers as needed.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Interest in and passion for working with children with FASD and prenatal substance exposure!
  • MA or MS degree with a valid license in the state of Washington.
  • Prefer candidate that has Certification of Clinical Competence. (C.C.C.); CFY students will be considered.
  • Feeding training and experience preferred.
  • Commitment to building and strengthening equity practices.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Minimum one year of direct service experience with children and families, preferably providing trauma-informed care and working with families dealing with substance abuse and/or prenatal exposure.
  • Prefer infant mental health, trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing training/experience.
  • Knowledge of parent/caregiver coaching; experience preferred.
  • Able to work at center, family home, and community settings.
  • Current criminal background check maintained for all employees.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
