SLP CF Position VA Portland Healthcare System – Portland, OR

The VA Portland Healthcare System is pleased to announce a one-year Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship (CF) position. Our facility is a Level 1A (highest complexity) facility with an active academic affiliation with Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU). The Speech-Language Pathology service consists of seven SLPs amongst two clinic campuses in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA.

We provide services along the continuum of care from critical care inpatients, acute rehabilitation, skilled nursing, rehabilitation unit, outpatients, hospice and palliative care, and telehealth. The SLP department has close working relationships with many interdisciplinary services including ENT Head & Neck Surgery/Tumor Board, Parkinson’s Disease Education and Clinical Center (PADRECC), ALS Clinic, TBI/Polytrauma Clinic, and rehabilitation therapies, among others.

The clinical fellow will gain training and experience in all general areas of medical speech pathology, including evaluation and treatment of individuals with dysphagia, speech and language disorders, cognitive disorders, voice disorders, and upper airway disorders. They will also develop skills in instrumental swallowing evaluations of Modified Barium Swallow Study (MBSS) and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), tracheostoma, an TEP management, voice assessment with use of acoustic voice analysis systems, and fiberoptic laryngoscopy and stroboscopy.

Although there is some overlap in training, our CF consists of four, 3-month rotations, each of the first three rotations provides a primary area of emphasis. Not listed in any specific order. See attached PDF for more information. PortlandVACF

Full-Time Team Lead Board Certified Behavior Analyst + Other Positions – UW Autism Center

The Autism Center’s has an outstanding opportunity for a full time (100% FTE) Team Lead Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This individual will work amongst a team of professionals, including licensed psychologists, speech-language pathologists, early intervention providers, medical professionals, faculty, graduate students, and pre- and post-doctoral fellows. They will supervise or offer consultation and support to other BCBAs, some of whom have been in the field for 10 years. The Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Team Lead will provide supervision and support to Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs- masters-level clinicians), Behavior Technicians (BTs- bachelor level clinicians) and practicum students. There are two primary job functions for this position, which include clinical supervision of individuals (including BCBAs) on the ABA Services team, and providing clinical services on the ABA team. There is also the option to participate on our Training and School Services team. The position requires the ability to supervise a team of 10-15 individuals on the ABA team to ensure that they are providing high quality services, as measured by client progress and client/parent satisfaction. The University of Washington Autism Center is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Director of Training and Consultation Services to lead our training initiatives and consultation services. This is a crucial role engaged in enhancing the knowledge and skills of professionals, families, and community members interacting with autistic individuals.  As a director and supervisor, the individual will oversee all training and consultation related services provided by the multi-disciplinary team at the UW Autism Center.  The individual will interface with community agencies and organizations to determine needs and goals of each service provided. UPCOMING POSITIONS

The University of Washington Autism Center (UWAC) is currently seeking a full-time Research Study Coordinator-I to support ongoing research related to autism. These efforts include data collection, participant recruitment, screening, and scheduling, MRI imaging and in-person lab visit support, and IRB management as part of the Infant Brain Imaging Study (IBIS) among other ongoing projects at UWAC. Autism Center CF Position – Seattle & Tacoma

The Autism Center’s Seattle and Tacoma Satellite Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a full time Speech and Language Pathologist – Clinical Fellow (SLP-CF)/Continuing Education Specialist 1.

This position is for a period of 9 -12 months. This individual will work amongst a team of professionals, including licensed psychologists, speech-language pathologists, board certified behavior analysts, behavior technicians, occupational therapists, graduate students, and pre- and post-doctoral fellows primarily at our Seattle clinic. However, we also have a clinic in Tacoma and some work will be there. This CF position work schedule would be 1 day in Tacoma, 4 days in Seattle. The ideal CF will be willing to travel between Tacoma and Seattle clinic locations

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct clinical services and patient care activities (approximately 90% of workload):

  • Provide speech/language/communication evaluations to children with ASD in order to identify target goals and intervention strategies using a variety of standardized and non-standardized methods. (10%)
  • Provide speech/language/communication intervention to children with ASD including regularly assessing child’s speech/language/communication progress and modify goals as needed. (60%)
    • Provide services in individual and group settings.
    •  Work with clients ranging in age from infants to adults, with the majority of services provided to preschool and school-age children.
    • Feel comfortable administering customized treatment to children with a range of language skills and behavioral presentations.
    • Develop treatment programs with the cooperation of UW and community practitioners and educators.
    •   Collaborate with other clinical team members in assessment and intervention.
    •  Provide consultation to families, community providers, and UWAC clinicians regarding a range of communication issues in the home and school settings to develop continuity of care.
    •  Involve client’s parents and/or families in treatment program.
  • Complete initial client evaluation reports, treatment plans, progress reports, referral letters, and other administrative responsibilities in a timely manner. (20%)
    •  Keep appropriate records of services provided.
  • Administrative duties (approximately 10% of workload)
    •  Coordinate with the billing office regarding services
    • Coordinate with licensed/supervising SLP
    •  Coordinate with administration and support staff to meet billable expectations
    •  Keep and report service statistics for documentation and billing purposes
Required Skills:
Master’s Degree in speech-language pathology, plus have passed the Praxis exam
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* An approach to working with colleagues that enhances collaboration and team building;
Desired Skills:
  • Experience and interest in working with autistic individuals and their families.
  • Experience and interest in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Experience and interest in running group therapy
  • Experience in the administration and scoring of the ADOS-2 modules 1-4
  • May be willing to start part time and increase to full time after initial credentialing period (1-2 months).
