Speech Pathology Clinical Fellowship

A Clinical Fellow (CF) training position in Speech Pathology is available at the VA Northern
California Health Care System (VANCHCS) for Fall 2024. The position includes clinical rotations
throughout the VA Northern California Healthcare System with the primary location in
Sacramento. There will be an emphasis on advancing knowledge and skills in neurogenic
communication disorders in addition to gaining experience in the full range of adult medical
Speech-Language Pathology services.

The VANCHCS is a Level 1a (highest complexity) facility with an acute care hospital offering both
inpatient and outpatient Speech Pathology services. Clinical experiences in the evaluation and
treatment of neurogenic communication disorders, including aphasia, motor speech disorders,
and cognitive-communication impairments will be an integral part of the CF. The CF will also
develop skills in clinical and instrumental swallowing evaluations, tracheostoma and TEP
placement/management, voice assessment/management, and aural rehabilitation.

Inpatient Rehab SLP Position – Bakersfield, CA

SLP for Inpatient Rehab in Bakersfield, CA – with mentorship
We are seeking to hire a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for our acute inpatient rehab
hospital in Bakersfield, California that provides a higher level of comprehensive rehabilitation

Acute Care CF – Rochester, NY

CLINICAL FELLOWSHIP IN ACUTE CARE – Winter 2025

Strong Memorial Hospital is a Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center accommodating more than 800 acute care beds and growing. Strong Memorial Hospital is a teaching hospital in which interdisciplinary collaboration and patient centered care is valued. The acute care team is seeking a full time, twelve-month clinical fellow to begin January 2025. Our clinical fellowship is structured to provide experience at all levels of acute care in a wide variety of specialty areas including but not limited to: neurology, cardiology, transplant, trauma, oncology, surgical, and hospital medicine. Our goal is to provide new clinicians with a strong foundation of experience and skills to become a well-rounded medical speech-language pathologist. The clinical fellow will become proficient in the completion of Modified Barium Swallow Studies and participate in FEES.

Job Description:

Full time, 40 hours Speech Pathology

January 2025 to December 2025

8AM – 4:30PM; Monday through Friday January- June, then transition to Sunday- Thursday July-December. Some holiday coverage.

Position Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (CF) will be mentored under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) who holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC). This position is responsible for providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients across the continuum of scope including swallowing, speech, language, cognition, voice and alternative means of communication across all hospital units.

Minimum Requirements:

· Completion of M.A. or M.S. degree in an accredited speech-language pathology program

· Previous clinical experience providing direct patient care in a medical setting and prior use of electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred.

The Southern Arizona VA in Tucson, AZ is offering an exciting Clinical Fellowship experience serving inpatients, outpatients, and rehabilitation residents of our Community Living Center. This dynamic setting provides training in evaluation and treatment of adults with cognitive-communication impairments, aphasia, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, and voice disorders. The Clinical Fellow will gain experience in performing swallow evaluations (bedside, fluoroscopic, and endoscopic), endoscopic voice evaluations, post-laryngectomy voice restoration, language and cognitive evaluations and treatment, gender-affirming voice and communication, as well as assistive technology for augmenting communication and cognition. The CF will work professionally with a variety of specialty services and interdisciplinary teams, such as ENT, Polytrauma/TBI clinic, Transgender & Gender Diverse clinic, ALS clinic, PT/OT, Nutrition, Nursing, and General Medicine.

Speech Pathology Clinical Fellowship Opportunity 2023-2024

The Miami VA Healthcare System Audiology and Speech Pathology Service is excited to announce a full time Clinical Fellowship opportunity for 2023-2024!

The Speech Pathology program at the Miami VA provides a wide range of services and a dynamic learning environment. We are a Level III Polytrauma Clinic Support Team and are part of the CARF accredited acute rehab unit.

The Clinical Fellow will provide diagnostic and intervention services to outpatients (including telehealth), inpatients, and Community Living Center (CLC) residents. The Clinical Fellow will work and collaborate closely with specialty and interdisciplinary teams including Otolaryngology, Radiology, Nutrition, Geriatrics, Spinal Cord, Neurology, Critical Care, Military to VA (polytrauma), Radiation-Oncology, and Palliative Care. We provide the opportunity to gain experience with instrumental exams (fluoroscopy, FEES, videostroboscopy), cognitive-communication evaluation and treatment, as well as various special populations (head & neck cancer, post laryngectomy voice restoration, and neurodegenerative disorders). In addition, the clinical fellow will also gain acute rehabilitation experience on our Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP) unit.

The Miami VA is located close to Midtown and Downtown areas where there is a plethora of restaurants, shops, and cultural activities. Miami hosts Art Basel, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, multiple boat shows, and is home to the Miami Heat, Miami Marlins, and Miami Dolphins. The weather is warm and allows residents to take advantage of the beach and Florida Keys year-round!

The Odegaard Writing and Research Center (OWRC) offers free, one-to-one, 45-minute tutoring sessions for undergraduate, graduate, and professional writers in all fields at the UW. We will work with writers on any writing or research project, as well as personal projects such as applications or personal statements. Our tutors and librarians collaborate with writers at any stage of the writing and research process, from brainstorming and identifying sources to drafting and making final revisions.
