Position:
The College of Health Professions invites applications for a full-time, 10-month faculty position at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor rank beginning August 2019.

Qualifications:

• Degree and credentials: (1) Master’s degree or doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology, (2) ASHA CCC-SLP certification, and (3) current (or eligible for) unencumbered Maryland license as a speech-language pathologist.
• Experience: Clinical experience in one or more of the following areas: Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), child language development and disorders, speech sound development and disorders, and/or phonetics. Clinical supervision, didactic teaching and/or
  research experience in these areas is preferred (especially AAC).

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include supervision of students providing clinical services on campus; undergraduate and graduate class instruction; academic advising; university, community, and professional service; and scholarship expectations including on-going professional education and maintenance of clinical excellence. In addition, responsibilities may include mentoring writing
abilities in undergraduate and graduate students, collaborative research, and interprofessional education (IPE).

Department of Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology and Deaf Studies:
The Department of Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology and Deaf Studies currently has 23 full-time faculty who teach over 500 undergraduate majors across two baccalaureate degree programs: Speech Language Pathology and Audiology, and Deaf Studies. The department’s graduate programs enroll over 80 students in the Master’s degree program in Speech Language Pathology, and over 40 students in an Audiology clinical doctorate program. In addition, the
department is responsible for administering the Towson University Speech and Language and Hearing and Balance Centers that serve over 1,000 clients each year in the greater metropolitan Baltimore community. One full-time CF position in Speech-Language Pathology is available at JBVAMC located in the Illinois Medical District, two miles west of downtown Chicago. The Speech Pathology Section is comprised of a dynamic, collaborative healthcare team serving inpatients, acute inpatient rehab, residents of the Community Living Center and outpatients. The CF will interact professionally with specialty services including Medicine, ENT, Neurology, Neuropsychology, Nutrition, Nursing, and other rehabilitation therapies. The CF will gain experience and provide services in all areas of medical speech pathology, including evaluation/treatment of individuals with dysphagia, speech and language disorders, cognitive disorders, voice disorders, etc. The CF may also gain specialized experience in cognitive rehabilitation for veterans with TBI/Polytrauma, laryngectomy care, and telehealth. We are seeking a candidate with a strong interest in medical Speech Pathology and a desire to grow professionally in a fast-paced, learning-oriented medical setting.

Dayton VAMC is pleased to announce the following opportunity:   Clinical Fellowship in Medical Speech Pathology for the 2019–2020 year.

The Dayton VA is a level 1C-high complexity facility.   Historically, it is one of three VA’s commissioned by President Lincoln.  Our grounds are vast and picturesque with the primary hospital building as the main medical facility for INPT and OPT.  There is also another newly remodeled building for a large CLC and residential care. The CF will be involved in speech pathology programs across the continuum of care.

The Clinical Fellowship stipend is for 1 year and is considered a TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT without the potential to become a permanent position.   The CF position is 40 hours per week with a compensation package that includes salary, health benefits and sick/ annual leave.

The Clinical Fellowship may begin as early as July 23, 2019 or as late as August 17, 2019.

The CF will gain experience in the evaluation and treatment of adults with cognitive communication impairments, aphasia, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, fluency, TBI, AAC and voice disorders in a variety of settings including ICU, acute care, inpatient rehab, extended care, outpatient and telehealth.  The CF can expect training in MBSS, FEES,  videostroboscopy, trach/vent, post laryngectomy voice restoration, communication devices and TeleSpeech services.   The CF could also have opportunities with speciality services including hospice, intensive care and work closely with ENT, rehabilitation unit, Polytrauma, and TBI team.

Under the general direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, is responsible for the clinical coordination of Speech, Language and Hearing Services. Manages daily operations, coordinates patient care and staffing assignments among Speech Language Pathologists (SLP) and Audiology divisions for inpatient and outpatients and works in collaboration with other Department Managers. Monitors and ensures service quality, efficiency and effectiveness throughout the CCHHS system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited college or university is required. (Must provide official transcripts at time of interview) Current licensure in good standing as an as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Illinois is required. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech, Language & Hearing Association (ASHA) is required. (Must provide proof at time of interview) A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience managing Speech Language Pathologist and/or Audiology staff and students is required. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience working with a range of speech/ language/ swallow disorders is required. A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience working in an acute care facility is required. Must possess a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification. (Must provide proof at time of interview) Intermediate proficiency using Microsoft Office is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience working in an acute care facility, preferably in a Level 1 Trauma Center/Teaching Hospital environment is preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

The VA Boston Healthcare System announces TWO Clinical Fellowship (CF) positions for Fiscal Year 2020.  The starting date will be within the time frame of July through September 2018 negotiable depending on the availability of the successful candidate.

Greetings from the Team at Katy Straalsund Memorial Foundation!

We are pleased to announce that we are already busily planning for our biggest fundraising event of the year.  We will be hosting the third annual “Let’s Kick Domestic Violence” Kickball Tournament at Horn Rapids Park in Richland Washington on August 23 and 24.   Based on your suggestions, this year we are tweaking a few things to make tournament and fundraiser even more fun and relevant. Our big feast and fundraiser portion of the event is being moved to the Thursday evening prior to the tournament.  This “Kickball Kickoff” will be hosted at White Bluffs on Thursday August 22 from 5 to 9 PM and will feature fabulous food, games, live music, and of course, White Bluffs Craft Beer. We are working on some great games and great prizes for you and a whole new chance auction format.  We are excited with the change as it will allow us to devote more time to inform you of what the foundation has accomplished thus far and where we are headed in the coming years. We hope to see you and your team there. Get to the Kick Off early and the first beer is on us!

The kickball tournament will be underway Friday evening and all day Saturday as in past years with a 16-team double elimination format.  We will also be having live music and keeping the beer garden open late on Friday and Saturday. At the tournament’s end, we will celebrate with pizza, beer, pop, and awards at the field.

We hope that you will be back again this year as sponsors, supporters, and volunteers.  We will be sending out this year’s initial flyers and poster within the month and encourage you to share with your friends, teammates, and associates.  As always we expect the event to fill up early so please don’t hesitate to send us a message and confirm your involvement this year.
