It supports a 99 bed Community Living Center and an 85 bed Spinal Cord Injury Center. In addition, the Tibor Rubin VA is a Level III Polytrauma Center.

The Clinical Fellow can expect to gain experience in all areas of medical speech pathology, including evaluation and treatment of individuals with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders. In addition, the Clinical Fellow will receive training and experience in the following: fluoroscopic and endoscopic swallowing evaluations, augmentative communication, laryngeal stroboscopy, and post-laryngectomy voice restoration. Patients are seen along the continuum of care from intensive care, acute rehabilitation, outpatient care, and long-term care.

CFY opportunity at University of Wisconsin, Madison Voice and Swallow Clinics

The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW) Voice and Swallow Clinics, Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is pleased to announce openings for our 2017 – 2018 Clinical Fellowship Program.

We offer fellowships in three specialty areas: adult voice, adult swallow, and pediatric voice.  Each specialty has its own unique focus, with the goal of the overall clinical fellowship experience being that of a multi-disciplinary approach to medical care for inpatients and outpatients at a state-of-the art institution.

The UW Clinical Fellowship Program is an intensive 12-month program where clinical education is viewed as a dynamic process.  Clinical fellows participate actively in learning to apply didactic information to clinical practice with patients who have a wide range of disorders.
We are seeking clinical fellows who demonstrate strengths in the following:
1. Ability to analyze and synthesize information from a broad-based fund of knowledge in medical communication and voice science and disorders
2. Ability to engage in evidence-based problem solving
3. Motivation to achieve an advanced level of clinical competence in prevention, screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with voice and swallowing disorders
4. The ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a multidisciplinary medical setting
5. Self-evaluation resulting in actively identifying steps to develop new skills and acquire knowledge
6. Ethical, responsible, and professional conduct
In addition to clinical expectations, fellows will be expected to participate in the following:
1. Conduction and completion of your own clinical research project
2. Weekly multi-disciplinary case conference, with regular clinical case presentations
3. Outreach activities

THE EMORY VOICE CENTER FELLOWSHIP IN VOICE, SWALLOWING, AND UPPER AIRWAY

The Emory Voice Center is a state of the art center within the Emory University Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Each year our experienced Otolaryngology faculty members provide the opportunity for one highly qualified graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program to complete a 12 month, full time, paid fellowship dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of people with voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders. The Emory Voice Center is an interprofessional center staffed by specialists in laryngology, speech-language pathology, dysphagia, upper airway, and professional voice. The candidate will participate in the interdisciplinary voice, dysphagia, and upper airway clinics, and work under the mentorship of the Emory Voice Center faculty and professional staff.  The candidate will be a member of a care team that functions on the cutting edge of modern otolaryngology.
This clinical fellowship year offers experience and training in:
Advanced flexible and rigid endoscopic laryngeal imaging, FEES studies, modified barium swallow studies, pharyngeal manometry, acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessment, advanced voice, swallowing and upper airway evaluation and therapy, care of the patient with laryngeal dystonia in interprofessional medical procedure clinics, and possible clinical research opportunities.

The candidate should have attended an accredited graduate program in speech-language pathology and have completed a master’s level course of study prior to beginning the position. The candidate must have solid experience in the evaluation and treatment of voice and swallowing disorders through graduate student work. The candidate must present a strong academic background and solid recommendations from their graduate training program and supervisors during their clinical practicum. Experience in working with the singing voice and bilingualism is a plus.

The Bay Pines (Florida) VA Healthcare System announces the availability of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) opportunity.

The USC Voice Center, Tina and Rick Caruso Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, University of Southern California will provide one highly qualified Speech Language Pathology candidate complete a 12 month, full time, paid fellowship position dedicated to the evaluation and treatment of people with voice, upper airway, and swallowing disorders. The USC Voice Center uses an inter-professional practice model staffed by specialists in Laryngology and Speech-Language Pathology who are recognized for their expertise and mentorship in disorders of voice, swallowing and upper airway. The Fellow will work closely with the faculty in interdisciplinary voice, dysphagia, and upper airway clinics gaining the experience needed to become a skilled independent practitioner under the mentorship of the USC Voice Center faculty. The candidate will be a member of the cutting edge Otolaryngology department at USC and have the benefits of academic and research endeavors with Otolaryngology residents, fellows, audiologists, and other faculty.

This clinical fellowship year offers experience and training in both diagnostic and therapeutic care of voice, professional voice, dysphagia, and upper airway disorders. Training in instrumental assessment including advanced flexible and rigid endoscopic laryngeal imaging, FEES, modified barium swallow studies and acoustic and aerodynamic voice assessment.  Care of the patient with laryngeal dystonia in inter-professional medical procedure clinics will provide the fellow with experience not often garnered during a clinical fellowship year. Clinical research opportunities are a hallmark of the fellowship given the resources offered through Keck Medicine of USC.

The candidate must have attended an accredited graduate program in speech-language pathology and have completed a master’s level course of study prior to beginning the position. All applicants must have graduate transcripts that allow for completion of the required California state temporary licensure (PCE for CF applicants) or full licensure for applicants with certification. Licensure is a 4-8 weeks process and must be completed prior to the start date.

 

The candidate must have solid experience in the evaluation and treatment of voice and swallowing disorders through graduate student work. The candidate must present a strong academic background. Experience in working with the singing voice and bilingualism is a plus.

Dayton VAMC is pleased to announce the following opportunities:  1 stipend for a Clinical Fellowship in Speech Pathology and 2 stipends for 350 hour Masters Level speech pathology student for the 2017-2018 year.

The Dayton VA is a level 1C-high complexity facility.   Historically, it is one of three VA’s commissioned by President Lincoln.  Our grounds are vast and picturesque with the primary hospital building as the main medical facility for INPT and OPT.  There is also another newly remodeled building for a large CLC. The CF will be involved in speech pathology programs at both buildings covering the continuum of care.

The Clinical Fellowship stipend is for 1 year and is considered a TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT without the potential to become permanent positions.   The CF positions are 40 hours per week with a compensation package that includes salary, health benefits and sick and annual leave.

The Masters level stipend is for a 350 – hour and is paid hourly.

The Clinical Fellowship may begin as early as July 24, 2017 or as late as September 1, 2017.

The (2) Masters level clinical rotations will be available Fall, Winter and Summer terms for 2017-2018.

The CF position will gain experience in the evaluation and treatment of adults with cognitive communication impairments, aphasia, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, fluency, TBI,  AAC and voice disorders in a variety of settings including ICU, acute care, inpatient rehab, extended care, outpatient and telehealth.  The CF can expect training in MBSS, FEES,  videostroboscopy, trach/vent, post laryngectomy voice restoration, communication devices and TeleSpeech services.   The CF will also have opportunities with speciality services including hospice, intensive care and work closely with ENT, rehabilitation unit, Polytrauma, and TBI team.

2017 CFY Position at Los Angeles VA

2017 SPEECH PATHOLOGY CLINICAL FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITY GREATER LOS ANGELES VA HEALTH CARE SYSTEM

The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is one of the largest health care facilities within the Department of Veterans Affairs, serving the 1.4 million Veterans who reside throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. VAGLAHS consists of an acute care medical center, two ambulatory care centers, and ten community-based outpatient clinics and is affiliated with both UCLA and USC Schools of Medicine.

The Speech Pathology Department consists of nine full-time SLPs and serves the ICU, PCU, TCU, General Medicine, and Acute Rehab Units within the medical center as well as Community Living Centers, a Hospice unit, and a busy outpatient clinic. The department has close working relationships with many other services and is part of the Acute Rehab Team, ALS Clinic, Head & Neck Tumor Board, Parkinson’s Disease, Research, Education, and Clinical Center (PADRECC), and Polytrauma Clinic, among others. The Clinical Fellow will gain training and experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with aphasia, cognitive communication impairment, dysphagia, motor speech, and voice disorders in addition to working with special patient populations including head & neck cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, TBI, trach/vent, and AAC.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Inpatient 41 bed acute inpatient rehab hospital with an onsite outpatient facility. We are stroke and hip fracture certified through the Joint Commission.

We offer mentorship to new grads and have experienced staff they can learn from.

Diagnoses include CVA, TBI, Parkinson’s, some dementia and the occasional hip fracture/knee replacements that may be confused. We see a variety of dysphagia, aphasia,
cognition, voice typically.  We have FEES equipment. We also have VitalStim. We have a variety of diagnostic tools such as WAB, Boston, CLQT, RIPA-G and treatment materials
available as well.

This speech fellowship program is a full-time 12 month experience consisting of clinical and research training in the assessment and treatment of:
• Cleft lip and palate
• Other craniofacial anomalies
• Velopharyngeal dysfunction and Resonance disorders
• Syndromes commonly associated with clefting/craniofacial anomalies, including emphasis on the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome
• Feeding/swallowing disorders in patients with craniofacial anomalies
• Pediatric speech disorders, with an emphasis on articulation and motor speech disorders

The fellow will work with the Cleft Lip and Palate Center, Center for Complex Craniofacial Disorders, Velopharyngeal Dysfunction Program, 22q Center, and the Speech Pathology Department at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The fellow will also spend time working on craniofacial-speech research and speech outcome/QI projects. The fellowship can be designed to include completion of required clinical hours and training to meet CFY requirements; however applicants who already have their CCC’s are also strongly encouraged to apply if they desire additional training in craniofacial anomalies.
