Location:  Greater Seattle Area

Schedule: Part-time working 20 hrs per week (opportunities for more hours possible)
Monday – Friday; 8:30 am – 5 pm

Wage: Starting at $32.69 – $46.00 per hour DOE + $2,000 hiring bonus!
*$500 to be paid out after 60 days of employment, and $1,500 to be paid out after 90 days of employment*

About the Role:
We serve children in their homes, childcare locations, and community settings and use a strength-based coaching model to build family capacity through information sharing, modeling, and reflection. We support professional development financially and with time and are committed to our staff reaching their full potential.

Our nine specialty Early Supports programs have been developed by dedicated staff being supported to innovate based on family/child needs. These programs include our EPIC team, feeding team, hospital-to-home transition team, CHERISH replication team, infant mental health team, and parent programming.

You will work alongside a team of people with decades of experience and have opportunities to pursue your special interests, share your knowledge, and receive reflective supervision. We are a highly-skilled, dedicated, collaborative, and innovative multidisciplinary team serving a diverse caseload of children aged from birth to three.

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Licensed in the State of Washington
    • We are currently unable to provide fellowship hours for Clinical Fellows
  • Reliable transportation, auto insurance, and a WA driver’s license required
  • One or more years of experience working in pediatrics or training that includes a pediatric affiliation required
  • Must have or obtain current CPR and First Aid certifications
  • Experience in early support or working a caseload including client’s birth to three preferred
  • Experience with an understanding of family involvement in therapy preferred
  • Experience in feeding is a plus

Each year the program accepts Master’s level graduates who are seeking mentorship through Brooks Rehabilitation to complete their mandatory postgraduate Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) with criteria set by the American Speech and Language Hearing Association (ASHA). The Speech Therapy Clinical Fellowship with Brooks Rehabilitation fosters completion of mentorship requirements of ASHA in addition to providing an elevated clinical fellowship experience. Our SLPs will not only be able to meet requirements for their governing body to receive final licensure, but will receive increased mentorship hours beyond what the minimal requirement is, didactic learning hours, professional engagement to present lectures and the opportunity to rotate or shadow clinical work in different clinical settings across the Brooks’ System of Care. The Speech Fellowship with Brooks Rehabilitation ensures that postgraduate SLPs receive an experience that is beyond a traditional CFY. The program is a year-long and fellows will gain experience working with multiple diagnoses including spinal cord injury, brain injury, and stroke populations. The CF Program accepts approximately one to three fellows per year who will have the opportunity to rotate through acute care, inpatient, and skilled nursing settings.

Position Description:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa invites applications for a 12-month full-time clinical faculty position at the rank of Assistant Clinical Professor to begin in June 2023. Appropriate candidates are those with clinical expertise in the area of adult acquired neurogenic communication disorders, as well as an interest in program development and a strong record of professional productivity. The Wendell Johnson Speech & Hearing Clinic is a thriving clinic within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. The clinic maintains active collaborations with the Veterans Administration Hospital and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Departments of Otolaryngology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery.

Responsibilities:
Primary responsibilities include clinical teaching of graduate students in clinical practice, program development, participation in service and professional development activities, and knowledge dissemination in areas of expertise. Other responsibilities may include classroom teaching, and scholarship within areas of expertise.

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of clinical experience
  • Specific clinical expertise using evidence-based practice in the area of neurogenic communication disorders (e.g. aphasia, TBI, dementia, motor speech disorders)
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment
  • Desirable Qualifications –
    • Experience with clinical instruction and/or supervision
