The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is one of the largest health care facilities within the Department of Veterans Affairs, serving the 1.4 million Veterans who reside throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. VAGLAHS consists of an acute care medical center, two ambulatory care centers, and ten community-based outpatient clinics and is affiliated with both UCLA and USC Schools of Medicine.

The Speech Pathology Department consists of nine full-time SLPs and serves the ICU, PCU, TCU, General Medicine, and Acute Rehab Units within the medical center as well as Community Living Centers, a Hospice unit, and a busy outpatient clinic. The department has close working relationships with many other services and is part of the Acute Rehab Team, ALS Clinic, Head & Neck Tumor Board, Parkinson’s Disease, Research, Education, and Clinical Center (PADRECC), and  Polytrauma Clinic, among others.  The Clinical Fellow will gain training and experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with aphasia, cognitive communication impairment, dysphagia, motor speech, and voice disorders in addition to working with special patient populations including head & neck cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, TBI, trach/vent, and AAC.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

o   The Clinical Fellowship (CF)  is a 12 month appointment and tentatively scheduled to begin July – August 2022.

o   The CF will work 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) with a compensation package that includes salary, health benefits, and sick and annual leave.

o   This is a temporary appointment without potential for permanent employment.

o   Only US citizens are eligible to apply.

o   Applicants with a strong academic background and/or clinical experience in neuroscience, neurogenic cognitive/ communication disorders, voice, and dysphagia are preferred.

This position will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all our activities.

The University of Cincinnati Voice, Swallowing & Airway Center in collaboration with the Divisions of Laryngology and Head & Neck Surgery, is pleased to offer a 9-month intensive clinical fellowship opportunity in the areas of swallowing & voice disorders.

The applicants must have foundational knowledge in anatomy and physiology of the head and neck and experience including:

–       Coursework in voice and swallowing disorders, especially head and neck anatomy.

–       Medical Speech-Language Pathology practicum experience (preferably in voice and swallowing disorders).

–       Practicum experience in conducting and documenting videostroboscopic evaluations & Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES).

–       MBSimp (student version or clinician) reliability zone completion of at least 80% for each component.

During the fellowship, trainees will develop skills in the following:

–       Independent use of rigid and flexible endoscopy to perform videostroboscopic voice evaluations.

–       Independent in ability to perform FEES and Videoflouroscopic Swallow Studies

(VFSS/MBSS)

–       CSL and PAS for acoustic and aerodynamic assessment of voice and airway.

–       Developing and implementing treatment plans for patients with voice & swallowing disorders.

–       Communication skills for use in multidisciplinary team including laryngologists & head and neck surgeons, nurse navigators, CNPs/PAs/RNs, dieticians, social work, physical/occupational therapists.

–       Clinical research.

–       Evidence-based medicine

 

Clinical fellows are required to participate in additional learning/service opportunities outside of immediate patient care including:

–       Clinical research (either new or ongoing initiatives) with a potential for a poster/oral presentation at a state or national conference

–       Monthly multi-institutional SLP journal club

–       Quarterly Voice & Swallowing Rounds with ENT residents

–       Fellowship quality improvement project

–       Attendance of head & neck support group

–       Participation in periodic educational opportunities through the Dept. of Otolaryngology.

–       The fellowship is for 9-month commitment.
–       This experience satisfies accreditation requirements for ASHA CCCs and Ohio SLP licensure.

ABCD Seattle SLP Position

Speech-Language Pathologist sought for Associates in Behavior and Child Development | ABCD, PLLC practice in Seattle

Well-established Seattle group seeks a full or half-time time speech-language pathologist to join
the practice to evaluate and treat children with speech and language, collaborating with other
providers at ABCD and in the community. We are especially interested in clinicians who are
interested in speech and language issues in children with autism and in children with reading
delays and disabilities. This position would require a MS or MA and ASHA Certification in
Speech & Language Pathology and a current Washington State license.

Current emphases at ABCD, PLLC are anxiety disorders, ADHD, autism, learning disabilities,
and neurofeedback. ABCD has a wide referral base and provides a collegial work environment
with reception and bookkeeping/billing support. We are especially interested in providers who
seek a collaborative clinical setting with a wide range of child and adolescent patients. Health
