Career Fair Feb. 28th

On behalf of the Washington University Student Occupational Therapy Association (WUSOTA), we would like to invite you to participate in this year’s online Therapy Career Fair.  The Therapy Career Fair is a great opportunity for students in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology programs to connect with vendors from across the country and learn more about potential employment opportunities. Vendors will be presenting information about their organizations, as well as answering any questions you may have as potential employees.

The Atlanta VA Health Care System is seeking candidates for its 2022-2023 Speech Pathology Clinical Fellowship.

 

The Atlanta VA Health Care System is compromised of the Atlanta VA Medical Center, Community Based Outpatient Clinics, a domiciliary, and a Community Living Center.  The Medical Center is comprised of approximately 300 hospital beds.  The Trinka Davis Veterans Village is comprised of 42 Community Living Center beds.  Annually, more than 130,000 veterans receive health care at the Atlanta VA Medical Center.  We are affiliated with the Emory University School of Medicine and located in the heart of Decatur, near midtown Atlanta, adjacent to Emory University.  The Speech Pathology team serves inpatients, outpatients, and residents of our Community Living Center.

 

The clinical fellow (CF) will interact professionally with specialty services including Neurology, ENT, Medicine, TBI/Polytrauma, Nutrition, Nursing, Radiology, and other rehabilitation therapies.  The CF will gain experience and provide services in all areas of medical speech pathology, including evaluation/treatment of veterans with swallowing, speech and language, cognitive, and voice disorders.  The use of virtual care will also be emphasized.  The CF may also gain specialized experience in artificial airways, neurogenic communication disorders, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing, laryngectomy care, and COVID-19 recovery.  We are seeking candidates with experience and a strong interest in medical speech pathology, as well as a desire to grow professionally in a complex and learning-oriented medical setting.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

 

  • The clinical fellowship is a one-year, temporary appointment, without potential to become permanent.
  • Start Date: Summer 2022
  • Applicants with a strong academic background and clinical experience in medical speech pathology are preferred.

The Speech Pathology Section at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center located in Long Beach, CA is pleased to announce a Clinical Fellowship position with a desired start date of October 2022.  The Clinical Fellowship is a full-time position with a compensation package that includes salary, health benefits, and sick and annual leave.  This is a temporary appointment that will last for one year.  Only US citizens are eligible to apply.

 

Located along the Southern California coast, the medical center provides comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, and extended care programs.  The Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is a 426-bed facility providing comprehensive health care in medicine, surgery, psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, dentistry, spinal cord injury, geriatrics, blind rehabilitation, and extended care.  In addition, the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center is a Level III Polytrauma Center.

 

The Clinical Fellow can expect to gain experience in all areas of medical speech pathology, including evaluation and treatment of individuals with speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing disorders.  In addition, the Clinical Fellow will receive training and experience in the following:  fluoroscopic and endoscopic swallowing evaluations, augmentative communication, laryngeal stroboscopy, and post-laryngectomy voice restoration.  Patients are seen along the continuum of care from intensive care, acute rehabilitation, outpatient care, and long-term care.

One full-time CF position in Speech-Language Pathology is available at JBVAMC located in the Illinois Medical District, two miles west of downtown Chicago. The Speech Pathology Section is comprised of a dynamic, collaborative healthcare team serving inpatients, acute inpatient rehabilitation, residents of the Community Living Center (CLC), and outpatients. The CF will interact professionally with specialty services including Medicine, ENT, Neurology, Neuropsychology, Nutrition, Nursing, and other rehabilitative therapies. The CF will gain experience and provide services in all areas of medical speech-language pathology, including evaluation/treatment of individuals with dysphagia, aphasia, cognitive-communicative impairments, motor speech, and voice disorders. The CF may also gain specialized experience in cognitive rehabilitation for veterans with TBI/Polytrauma, laryngectomy care, and telehealth services. Applicants must have a strong academic background and/or clinical experience in neuroscience, neurogenic disorders, dysphagia, and evidenced-based practice. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in adult medical speech-language pathology and a desire to grow professionally in a diverse, learning-oriented medical setting.

The VA Puget Sound Health Care System Clinical Fellowships provide experience medical speech pathology.  Outcomes and evidence based practice is emphasized.  The Clinical Fellow may have opportunity for specialized training in endoscopy, post laryngectomy voice restoration, and assistive technology.

The Clinical Fellow may work closely with a variety of specialty services and teams, including Rehabilitation Medicine, Nutrition, Otolaryngology, Neurology, Neuropsychology, Primary Care, Multiple Sclerosis and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Care Teams, Spinal Cord Injury and
Disease Unit, and the Traumatic Brain Injury/Polytrauma Program. The Clinical Fellowship is divided into 3-4 separate rotations, located at both the Seattle and American Lake Divisions.
The Seattle division offers training in acute care, inpatient rehabilitation and spinal cord injury units, a community living center, and specialty outpatient clinics. The American Lake division (in Lakewood, Washington) offers training in outpatient clinics, the community living center, and specialty teams (e.g. ALS, Polytrauma, Stroke). Our staff Speech Pathologist are devoted to our training/mentoring program and clinical fellows can expect to work closely with their
clinical supervisors as they develop advanced clinical skills. We are seeking applicants with a strong interest in medical speech pathology, an ability to learn in a fast paced environment, have a strong academic background, and some clinical experience in a medical setting.

GENERAL INFORMATION AND REQUIRMENTS:

* CF positions are temporary appointments, full time for twelve months; tentatively scheduled to begin between July
2022 through August 2022.
* CF positions are 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) with a compensation package that includes salary, health

The West Palm Beach VA Medical Center  is a dynamic hospital offering a comprehensive Clinical Fellowship experience serving patients throughout the continuum of care, including inpatients, outpatients, and residents in the Community Living Center (CLC) and Hospice units. In addition, we provide comprehensive telemedicine and homecare services and group treatment programs to veterans in the community.

 

The Clinical Fellow will engage in a professionally challenging year gaining experience in evaluation and evidence based treatment of adults with dysphagia, aphasia, cognitive-communication impairments, motor-speech disorders, and voice disorders. The candidate will develop skills in performing swallowing evaluations (including fluoroscopic and endoscopic swallow evaluations), endoscopic voice evaluations, assistive technology (AAC) and post-laryngectomy voice restoration. Our hospital also serves as a Polytrauma Clinic Support Team (Level III). In addition, the Speech-Language Pathologists coordinate the Comprehensive ALS Interdisciplinary Team at our facility.

 

We are seeking applicants with a strong interest in adult medical speech-language pathology and internship experience in the acute care medical setting.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The CF position is twelve months to begin Summer/Fall 2022.

40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) with a compensation package that includes a stipend  of $41,993.00 plus medical and leave benefits.

This is a temporary appointment without potential to become a permanent position.
