We are currently accepting applications for a clinical fellow at Mountain Home, Tennessee. The setting includes experiences in acute and critical care, outpatient clinic, and the CLC, which provides short-term rehab, respite, hospice/palliative care, and long-term care. Outcomes/Evidence based practice for treatment across communicative, cognitive, and swallowing disorders is emphasized.
The Mountain Home VAMC clinical fellowship provides experience in the evaluation and treatment of adults with cognitive communication impairments, aphasia, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, and voice disorders. The clinical fellow can expect training in performing fluoroscopic swallow evaluations, stroboscopic voice evaluations, post laryngectomy voice restoration, and assistive technology for augmenting communication and cognition. The clinical fellow works closely with a variety of specialty services and teams including gastroenterology, radiology, neuropsychology, rehabilitation medicine, nutrition, pulmonology, primary care, and the traumatic brain Injury/polytrauma program.
GENERAL INFORMATION: * CF positions are twelve months. Tentatively scheduled to begin July 2022. * CF positions are 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday) with a compensation package that includes salary, health benefits, and sick and annual leave. * These are temporary appointments without potential to become permanent positions. * Applicants with strong academic backgrounds and clinical experience in medical speech pathology including neuroscience, neurogenic cognitive/communication disorders, voice, and dysphagia are preferred. * Only US citizens are eligible to apply.

OHSU LEND Fellowship
About the program
The Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental & Related Disabilities (LEND) post
graduate degree fellowship in speech-language pathology is a full-time position that lasts
for 12 months, and is primarily clinical in nature. This experience includes all clinical
hours and requirements for completion of the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association fellowship experience. Primary clinical training occurs at the Child
Development & Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) Clinics at Doernbecher Children’s
Hospital/Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon, with training and
mentorship provided by our faculty of speech-language pathologists. Clinical fellows
engage in multidisciplinary team assessments in rotations through our Craniofacial,
Feeding, Autism, Down Syndrome, Child Development, and Neurodevelopment Clinics.
The fellowship also includes intervention and treatment opportunities for children with
communication disorders through community placements and in the CDRC clinics.
In addition to clinical experience, the clinical fellow will also participate in:
• Interdisciplinary training in the LEND program
• Weekly interdisciplinary seminars with topics related to community outreach, family
issues that affect children with developmental disabilities, leadership, and policy
development
• Engagement in a family mentoring experience
• Engagement in a leadership/community engagement project
• A research project and presentation under the guidance of a mentor
• Leadership and teaching opportunities
• Opportunities for continuing education
The Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities program at
the CDRC aims to provide training leadership in clinical care and coordination, family
systems, education, public policy, community resources, and advocacy for children with
neurodevelopmental disabilities, utilizing an interdisciplinary model. Our annual LEND
program includes faculty and a cohort of approximately 16 long term trainees from 12
disciplines, including speech-language pathology.
This fellowship is co-sponsored by the Division of Speech-Language Pathology and the
Institute on Development & Disability at Oregon Health & Science University in
Portland, Oregon.
How to apply
Applicants must be a US Citizen or have a permanent residency Visa, have the minimum
of a master’s degree in speech-language pathology, a conditional license to practice in
the state of Oregon (can be arranged after acceptance into the program), and meet all
the requirements for clinical certification except the Clinical Fellowship. Oregon Health

Modest stipends will be available for the 2022-23 academic year. Stipends are
contingent upon continued grant funding, and fellowships are funded by a grant through

Once selected, trainees will be required to demonstrate that they have health insurance

required by OHSU is not current, then they will need to update vaccinations at their expense.
Current required vaccinations include: Diphtheria+Tetanus (within the last 10
years), Polio, Rubella, and Rubeola, or proof of prior disease. COVID-19 vaccination is
also required. Additionally, Hepatitis B vaccination is encouraged, but not required. For

The Speech-Language Pathology Service at Cincinnati VA Medical Center offers one-year Clinical Fellowship opportunities in Speech-Language Pathology. Clinical fellows are full-time, funded employees who have the opportunity to achieve their clinical learning goals, including development of advanced practice skills, while being mentored by experienced clinicians. Fellows work and learn in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings within the Medical Center, and engage in interprofessional practice with specialty services including Neurology, Otolaryngology, Medicine, Oncology, TBI/Polytrauma, Nutrition, Nursing, and other rehabilitation therapies. Hands-on clinical teaching and supervision allow Fellows to develop the skills and abilities needed to manage a full-time, complex patient caseload. Fellows also engage in a variety of didactic and academic learning opportunities, including participation in interdisciplinary and community SLP journal clubs, attendance at College of Medicine Grand Rounds, surgical observations, onsite training in flexible endoscopy, and opportunities for postgraduate learning through in-person and virtual trainings and conferences. In
addition, Fellows have the opportunity to participate in clinical research and/or quality improvement programs that can train skills necessary for a future career incorporating clinical research. The Speech Pathology Section serves acute and critical care inpatients, outpatients, and residents of a Community Living Center. Fellows will gain experience and provide services in all general areas of medical speech pathology, including evaluation and treatment of individuals with dysphagia, speech and language disorders, cognitive disorders, voice disorders, and tracheostomy. They will also gain experience in subspecialty areas of speech language pathology, which may vary according to the specific professional goals
and interests of the selected Fellows. Overall, we are seeking candidates with a strong interest in medical speech pathology and a desire to grow and develop professionally in a fast-paced, learning-oriented medical setting.
