Data Collection Supports Renovation Planning

Libraries staff have been hard at work collecting data to support planning for our upcoming renovation. One of the questions that is guiding our data collection is this: Where are our users currently spending the most time in the library? In order to figure this out, library staff have been performing periodic walkthroughs during which they record information about which areas of the library are being used. This work is being done in collaboration with the UW Libraries Planning and Assessment team, who developed the methodology and are helping us to tabulate and interpret the results.

This data collection began in mid-October 2019 and will be continuing through the end of Winter Quarter. Understanding patterns of user behavior when it comes to space will help us better meet the needs of our users as we plan our renovation.

Visit the TEAL renovation page for more information about this project.
