Hello, Huskies!

Our weekends this summer have been filled with gray, gloom, and raindrops. But we are soon to enter what is climatologically the driest time of the year in Seattle: late July. Climate is what you expect. Weather is what you get. It appears, what we should expect and what we will get, are in agreement for this upcoming stretch.

We have to earn our sunny, warm weather, however, by dredging through a few more hours of gray and gloom today. Expect showers to persist through midday, becoming stray to dissipating by early afternoon. Clouds will remain overcast through midday, but eventually leave with the showers leading to partly sunny skies by evening. Daytime highs will reach into the mid to upper 60s, with overnight lows dropping down into the low 50s.

The gray skies and light rain this morning is the result of a weak upper level trough with an accompanying surface low skimming us on its backside. Not much, but enough to result in cloudy, showery weather. But over the next few days we see a ridge over the north Pacific eventually lean and persist over the PNW. Welcoming dry, sunny, and warmer conditions to the region this weekend, with temperatures reaching into the upper 70s, and into next week, where temperatures are expected to reach the mid 80s!
