Happy Tuesday Huskies!

The atmosphere is always in flux, often transitioning sharply from cool troughs to hot ridges and from stormy clouds to clear skies. Yet once in awhile those transitions are halted, and forecasting becomes a “copy and paste” exercise. This is one of those “copy-paste” forecast weeks. High temperatures in the mid 70s and low temperatures in the mid 50s are forecast in Seattle through the weekend. If you enjoy clear skies, the view from the Atmospheric Science Building is sure to make you happy.

Temperatures will be slightly cooler in the north Sound and towards the coast. Bellingham and Mt Vernon highs will fall in the low 70s and overnight temperatures could dip into the 40s. Over in eastern Washington temperatures will be warmer, but far more bearable than a week ago. Temperatures in Spokane and Yakima will crest in the mid-to-upper 80s this week, while overnight lows will be similarly cool in the mid 50s, as in western Washington. Much cooler temperatures are expected in eastern Washington starting Sunday.

While some might find such consistent weather “unexciting”, it is a nice compromise for cool and hot summer weather fans. It certainly is better than 90s and smoky in California! Enjoy the smoke-free air, Huskies, and have a great week!
