Happy Wednesday, Huskies!
It’s been cold. And cold enough for flakes. It snowed over Seattle and much of the Puget Sound last night, but most of us would have little to prove or show for it. Easterly winds bringing in air from eastern Washington kept the surface level dry and evaporated the light snowfall attempting to reach our lawns and roadways. Below is an imagine of 24 hour snowfall. Snow fell aloft, but no snow at the surface. Sad :’(
Temperatures today are just slightly warmer with highs in the upper 40s and an overnight low in the upper 30s. Clouds will clear some into the afternoon as dry conditions return this afternoon and early evening. Then some showers will move into the area late this evening and persist overnight.
The trend of cool temperatures and occasional showers will continue over the next few days. Then, we will slowly transition into a wetter pattern this weekend and early next week with a new trough parking offshore. Below is an image of our current geopotential heights. By this weekend, our current trough will be replaced by another. And it’s only fitting, as we approach the halfway point of winter!
Have a nice rest of your week, Huskies! Stay warm and stay dry!
