Forecast: February 19th, 2021

Happy Friday, Huskies!

It’s time to wear those umbrellas and rain jackets and be prepared for a wet one. Widespread rainfall will occur across most of the Seattle region, with the heaviest amounts in the Olympia region. Unlike yesterday, amounts will generally be lighter elsewhere, with the rain continuing into the weekend.

(Remember the old joke? What do you call two days of rain in Seattle? A weekend! What do you call three days of rain in Seattle? A holiday!)

Temperatures will mostly remain in the mid-40s, slightly below normal, but not enough to the point where freezing temperatures could be considered.

Skiers, rejoice! Lowland rain means mountain snow, with Snoqualmie receiving 10 inches and Stevens receiving 20 inches. However, this snow will make it tough to drive across the mountains. If you want to drive to Eastern Washington, you should not do so until next Wednesday.

Most of the next week will be the same story, with temperatures in the mid-40s occasionally hitting 50, and rain almost every day. (A local KOMO meteorologist named Scott Sistek invented a word for what happens when all of the days on the long-range forecast have rain: Septasplash.)

Have a great weekend, Huskies, and if you are a sophomore or freshman, don’t forget to set your alarm for 6 am next Monday or Thursday, respectively.
