Forecast: February 20th, 2021

By Rachael Fewkes

Hey Huskies!

We’re waking up to mostly cloudy skies with occasional sunbreaks this morning, giving us a short break from the wet weather we saw yesterday. If you catch a glimpse of blue sky where you’re at, be sure to run outside and make the most of it because it will likely be the last blue sky you see for a while! For the rest of the day, you can expect highs in the upper 40s and scattered showers popping up as we make our way into the evening.

A rainy streak is about to begin, with steadier precipitation in the forecast starting tomorrow and sticking around all the way until next Saturday! We’ll also see a bit of a warm period tomorrow and Monday with highs spiking up to the low 50s before cooling back down to the mid-to-upper 40s for the remainder of next week.

While rainfall will be somewhat consistent over the next few days, those of us in the Puget Sound lowlands will see little accumulation thanks to strong west/southwesterly flow, conveniently placing us in a rain shadow behind the Olympic mountains. Those on the Peninsula and in the Cascades, however, will see greater rainfall totals and may be at risk for some urban flooding.

Enjoy the dry conditions today and have a wonderful weekend!
