Forecast: April 17th, 2021

Hello Huskies and welcome to a stunner of a Saturday!
I already got a pretty decent sunburn before I remembered that it was my turn to write the forecast (whoops!), but there are a handful of gorgeous hours still ahead of us today as we enjoy the warmest day of the year so far! Here’s your look at today’s numbers, and what’s to come in the week ahead.
As mentioned above, it is officially the warmest day of the year at the UW, with a reading of 78° at 3:30 PM. There was a lot of chatter about cracking 80° today, and while it looks like we may fall short of that in Seattle today, there are places that crossed the threshold either today or yesterday, which beats our typical first 80° day by about a month (the average is May 20th at Sea-Tac)! Despite missing the mark, it truly is a spectacular spring day, so get out and enjoy the blue skies and warm air, plus a very light northern breeze to help us stay comfortable out there. The beautiful weather carries into Sunday and the start of Week 4, with temperatures climbing into the mid and low 70s, respectively, and the clear skies remaining dominant before we settle in a bit closer to more typical April weather.
That downward trend will carry us towards next weekend with a bit more gray, and only a few April showers! Along the way, temperatures settle into the mid sixties most days, which may feel cool compared to this weekend, but that is still about 5-6° ahead of our typical temperatures at this time of year. It may not be full of intrigue like our stormy winters and early spring instability, but it is looking to be an excellent week for a walk after those midterms! We hope you can enjoy the sun while it’s still out, and we’ll keep you posted on what is next. Cheers!
