Hey Huskies!
Oh, how narratives shift. Just a couple weeks ago Puget Sound residents (including a few of the UW Dawgcast’s own forecasters) were hoping for an elusive precipitation-free weekend. Apparently the atmosphere was in an overachieving mood as it delivered a glorious stretch of cloudless skies and hot temperatures. After the recent sun and heat, local weather fans are ready for the rain to return!
If you are a pluviophile, or just want some rain to liven up your garden, chances are showers in the weekend forecast are making you smile. Rain should arrive in Seattle late tonight thanks to an incoming front. Saturday will be the rainier of the two days, but most areas should see less far less than a quarter of an inch of precipitation. Precipitation on Sunday will be mostly restricted to post-front showers.
Temperatures will trend down this weekend with highs today expected in the upper 50’s and lower 60’s. Rain and clouds will push highs into the low-to-mid 50s with overnight lows falling to the mid 40s. If you were sweltering in the heat last weekend, you might enjoy this weekend better for yard work or a walk.
Not only will the refreshing marine air flow bring rain, it should also improve air quality. While last week’s air quality was a far cry from September’s hazardous smoky skies, air quality readings near the UW campus were well above normal levels due to the stable air and pollens. If you have allergies, you certainly do not need an air quality sensor to tell you there is plenty of pollen in the air!
Enjoy the cooler weather this weekend!
