Happy International Dinosaur Day, Huskies!
Today will be another cool day in Seattle with high temperatures remaining below 60 degrees in Seattle and the rest of Western Washington. Temperatures today are abnormally chilly, running approximately 10 degrees below average for this time of year.
Light to moderate rain showers are around the area this morning with lots of sunshine in between these showers. With the sun shining in the sky, and yesterday’s front passage, there should be enough instability in the atmosphere this afternoon and evening for localized heavy downpours and thunderstorms.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma has placed the entire Puget Sound region under a thunderstorm risk today. Our chance for a thunderstorm will be greatest after 3 PM today, so keep an eye to the skies and remember when thunder roars get indoors!
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be in the area tomorrow as well, before giving way to slightly drier weather Thursday. This Friday things will dry up, and warm up making for a beautiful weekend with highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
We are running well below average in rainfall for the last three months, with abnormally dry and drought conditions spreading over much of Washington. Rainfall totals in the quarter to one half inch range over the next 48 hours may seem marginal in terms of drought, but every drop does count!
Our hours of daylight will increase another 16 minutes over the next week as we rapidly approach our Summer Solstice. Have a great day and good luck on any midterms this week!
