Hello and Happy Saturday, Huskies!
It’s a much different outlook this time around as compared to last weekend, as we’re staring down much more ideal weather for studying inside. Finals week is upon us, so perhaps that’s a good thing, but I apologize that I don’t have better news for my fellow fans of the sun and warmth!
Today marks the real arrival of that June Gloom that I mentioned last Saturday, as we hang out below 60° all day for the first time since May 19th, with rain showers making their presence felt throughout the afternoon.
Tomorrow brings much of the same; temperatures sit about 15° below average for this time of year and another storm system rolls in over the course of the day. For putting up with the cold, wet weekend, our reward is the possibility for a show associated with this storm! The below CAPE map from the UW model shows a pocket of slight but not insignificant instability that could give way to a bit of thunder and lightning as we approach sunset, so keep your eyes out for that!
The rest of the week seems heck-bent on motivating us to stay inside with our books and notes, as we aren’t expected to have a day at or above normal temperatures through Friday. Several systems move through, providing a healthy dose of rain that we probably need following a very dry meteorological spring (4th driest March 1-May 31 on record!).
So, as you hunker down for those exams, don’t worry about missing out on too much fun outside. As for post-exam celebrations, we can hope things turn around by next weekend. Only time will tell though, so stick with the Dawgcast as we get closer! Good luck and enjoy your weekend!
