Forecast: October 19th, 2021

By Raphael Bakin

Good morning Huskies! Happy Tuesday!

Today a major change in the weather pattern awaits. Most of us will enjoy a somewhat clear sky for much of today, until the evening when the clouds will increase.

Temperatures should climb to the low 60s, but be sure to get your outdoor activities in today – a bunch of weather systems will start coming in tomorrow, meaning that the forecast for the next several days is wet, wet, wet

Tomorrow, a large storm will develop off the Pacific Coast, intensifying so rapidly that meteorologists will call it a ‘bomb cyclone’. While this will not affect us just yet, some light showers will occur on Wednesday, and then the storm will begin to move inland. Thankfully, it will primarily affect western British Columbia, but the pressure gradients from this storm will cause both strong south winds on Thursday, and will bring heavy rain to the region as well.

After Thursday, the rain will let up a little, and may even pause for a few hours on Friday evening in between storms. But just as many Seattleites know, at this point in the year, you are extremely lucky just to see any sun, and these clouds and rain will continue into next week. There is no clearing in sight beyond that.

Have a great day!
