Forecast: October 29th, 2021
By Anthony Edwards
It’s Friday, and the sun is shining!
Thursday was sure eventful. Sea-Tac broke a daily record for rainfall yesterday, just shy of two inches at 1.99″. It was the wettest October day since 2003 and the second wettest day of the calendar year, short of the 2.33 inches that fell on Jan. 12.
The heavy rains pushed some local waterways to their limit during the past few days, so some flood warnings persist for the Stillaguamish, Skykomish, and Snoqualmie rivers.
After an eventful week that featured gusty winds and heavy rain, the weather will calm down just in time for the weekend.
Skies clear for a chilly night with temperatures on either side of 40-degrees. Saturday may start a bit foggy with all of the excess moisture around, but the fog will burn off and kick off Halloween weekend under blue skies.
Great pumpkin patch weather will persist into Sunday, with temperatures both days this weekend topping out in the mid-50s. Some locations close to the foothills and in the south Sound may nudge across the 60-degree mark as winds keep the cool marine air out at sea. Unfortunately for fans of warm weather, that’s about the best we can do this time of year in the Pacific Northwest due to the low sun angle.
The weather will serve more treats than tricks Sunday evening as clouds approach overnight but any wet weather will hold off until Monday. Overnight lows moderate into the mid-40s by Sunday.
Rain returns for Monday, but the next week does not look anywhere close to as wet, or windy, as the one prior, but Autumn in Seattle can always change quickly, so be sure to keep an eye on the forecast as we turn the calendar to November!
