Hey Huskies!

We had a foggy start this morning, but by late afternoon skies cleared up, making way for a beautiful (albeit chilly) evening!

View from the UW Atmospheric Sciences building this evening.

Heading into tonight, winds will pick up in the foothills, with 40 MPH gusts blowing through gaps in the Cascades. As a result, the foothills should remain more fog-free than those of us in the Puget Sound. If you’re around the Seattle area, chances are you’ll see fog return tonight, but you can expect it to clear relatively quickly tomorrow as flow switches from offshore to onshore. Keep an eye out for blue skies later in the day!

Western WA wind gust forecast (valid 4:00 AM Thursday).

Freezing fog is possible in some areas Friday morning, but that should be the last fog we’ll see. Looking ahead to the weekend, a front will move into the region on Sunday, bringing rain with it and breaking us out of our hazy pattern.  It will be a cold rain with temperatures hovering in the low to mid 40s, so be sure to pack a warm rain coat if you’re planning on heading outside!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!
