Good evening Huskies!
It’s been a very rainy Sunday thus far, marking a return to typical Seattle conditions. I’m sure everyone has been hoping the sunshine would last a little bit longer, but alas, it’s not meant to be. Today’s precipitation comes courtesy of a cold front passing through the area, typically bringing moderate rainfall at the frontal boundary. You can expect some light scattered precipitation left in the aftermath of the front passing through, as is typical with these types of systems. You can expect scattered showers tonight, if for whatever reason you feel the need to step out for a late-night jaunt. The low is expected to be in the high 30s, so perhaps it might be better to stay indoors.
In case you’re travelling back to campus tonight or tomorrow to coincide with the return to in-person classes, take care if you’re travelling over the mountain passes. Snow levels are falling, and the conditions are ripe for heavy snowfall in the Cascades tonight going into tomorrow. Best to keep an eye on conditions if you’re intending to travel through, as it’s possible snowfall can continue well into Monday.
Fallen precipitation at noon on Monday. Green indicates rain, while blue indicates snow.
Speaking of the return to in-person classes, I’m sure everyone’s eager to hear about next week’s conditions in preparation for the walks to campus. It’s generally looking like chances of showers on Monday and Tuesday, but the highlight of the week is right around the middle, when we have a chance for some lowlands snow. Keep your eyes posted as we get closer to it, but Tuesday has the chance for some rain/snow mix, while Wednesday morning has a chance for some light snow. Best of luck with the return to campus, and stay healthy out there!
