Happy Wednesday!

Today, brought about by the ridge of high pressure conditions off the coast, we see continued calm and largely dry conditions. This high pressure system serves to ‘block’ the Seattle region from any incoming storms.

However we expecting this defense against storms to dissipate slightly on Thursday and Friday with possible scattered showers in the region. By Saturday, the high pressure will be replaced with a low pressure weather system, bringing with it rainy and colder conditions. Unfortunately our trend of fair weather weekends will not continue this week.

The 7 day outlook shows the weekend weather system, however early next week we are expecting some sun to peak out from the clouds!

This February as been noticeably dry with very little precipitation in the Seattle region from January 11th onward. The brown line on the plot below indicates the normal total yearly accumulated precipitation, and the green shows precipitation accumulation in 2022. As you can see, we started the year with an enormous amount of rain, and have been nearly dry since then. A truly unusual for February!

While we have all enjoyed walking to class without a raincoat, the mountain snow pack depths (Snoqualmie show below) are begging to fall below normal. Hopefully the system this weekend will replenish the mountain snow!

Halfway through week 7 huskies! Wishing you the best of luck in registering for classes!
