Welcome to the weekend, Dawgs!
I know week five of the quarter was a bear for me, so I hope you are all able to catch your breath if that has been the case for you! If nothing else, I’m here to distract you from midterms for just a moment!
As we wrap up a chilly April, our final two days are looking to continue the trend. Today should top out just shy of 60°, while tomorrow tops out just shy of today. Both will put us a few degrees below average for this time of year, which is 63°. Disappointing, maybe, but look at it this way: it could be a lot colder, as 1952 proves! That 31° low on April 29th is one of the latest freezing temperatures Seattle has ever seen, with the record being May 1st. Brr!
Looking towards our Husky football spring preview tomorrow, we can expect what I might call “football weather”! With cool temperatures and cloudy skies, we are doing a pretty good job of recreating that fall weather we’re used to seeing at the Greatest Setting in College Football. Rain is expected between now and kickoff, but much of it will fall overnight and we should dry up just in time for the festivities to get started. Go cheer on our Dawgs, and don’t forget to swing by the baseball and softball games afterwards!
A nice day will start off the new month, as Sunday looks to reach the low 60s under mostly sunny skies. Rain will return on Monday, but the week gets nicer as it goes on, and we should see a spectacular day on Wednesday! After the underwhelming spring so far, a 65° day with partly blue skies sounds just right. There is disagreement in exactly where our May goes from there, as the European model favors a trough over our region while the American GFS sees a ridge providing us with a good stretch of pleasant days into the middle of the month. Of course, this is all pretty far out right now, so stay tuned and we’ll have more coverage in the coming days. Have a great weekend and week six!
