Hello Huskies! Happy Monday!
After this last weekend, which had a Saturday that was only a little moist (0.02 inches of rain) but a Sunday that was a soaker, combined with so many temperatures over the last few weeks being substantially colder than usual, it seems like Seattle is “due” for something more comfortable. (And just as one would expect, the cloudy day this weekend was the one with a lunar eclipse.)
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: a full sunny day does not look likely this week.
That being said, though, most of this week will be quite dry; after the initial leftover remains of yesterday’s trough decay this afternoon, the remainder of the day will be mostly cloudy, but without precipitation, and temperatures will reach the upper 50s, perhaps hitting 60 in certain areas. Tuesday looks much the same as today, with mostly cloudy skies all day but no rain, also with temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s.
It’s Wednesday, though, that our ‘spring-that-feels-like-winter’ returns, thanks to an approaching cold front. Temperatures will drop to the lower to mid 50s, and a steady rain will be present throughout the day (heavy in some areas). The timing of the rain is still a little uncertain, but it most likely will start very late Tuesday night (think almost midnight) and continue to Wednesday afternoon. There will also be a low-pressure system over British Columbia that day which could generate some stronger southerly winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour.
Luckily, though, the only precipitation on Thursday will be a few light showers, but the cloudy skies will keep temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. Even those will taper off by Thursday afternoon, and both Thursday evening and Friday look quite dry.
A warm front will also enter our region sometime this weekend, bringing a little more rain, but it’s still a little too far out for us to know if that will hit on Saturday or Sunday.
In other words, after about noon today, this week looks quite decent for outdoor activities, with the major exception of Wednesday.
Have a good week, Huskies, and keep in mind that we are now in week eight – we are starting to see the end of the quarter on the horizon!
